Default My Dog Attacked and we were asked to leave
Hello Everyone,

I am new here and Love My Dog and the Breed as a whole. I work with them and they are so intelligent and Loyal its so unfortunate that people are dumb and more viscious than a Pitbull can ever be.

My girl is 4 years old now, but I had socialized here since she was a baby. She plays with other dogs and loves kids .

What had happened our first day when she was 4 months old at the dog park was that she was playing and was attacked by a standard poodle and scared her and nothing was said to the owner, now that was her first day. After a year of playing with the same dogs, I mean from a great dane to a shitzu and other pits. The people that ran the park knew my dog well and how sweet she is. One day we come to the park and a new dog was there, it was a black chow. Well, my dog was sniffing as usual and they started to sniff each other then the chow bit my dog on the snout causing her to defend herself but she was bleeding. I got control immediately but the other owner was no where to be found so the dogs were growling and I took my dog and went on the other side of the fence.
Well, the park supervisor came over and asked us to leave because the other people were afraid of my Pitbull. This person knew my dog and I show the dog bleeding, I even had a few witnesses that said my dog was attacked but it didnt matter. Not a peep was said to the chows owner.

Some times I hate people !

The only person you have to be upset with is yourself.
Thank you for this example of why dog parks are a bad idea for all dogs.
You just changed the minds of all those people in the park- in a bad way. They'll go tell their friends that a 'vicious' pit bull 'attacked' this dog and 'almost killed it'.
Good job. For your dog's sake, stay out of dog parks and keep her on leash.

Joe: please do not take your beautiful dog to the dog park anymore - bully breeds do not belong in that envioronmentt, plus you have the 'unknown other dogs' and 'other owners nowhere in sight' factors - which you just experienced.

Plus, in the end, you and your girl will take the blame for any incidents.

It is just not worth it.

We have not been there since, we have our own local friends she plays with. And you are 100% correct !

stay away from dog parks and none of this will happen again

you just had an accident that could have easily been avoided with a little research prior to getting a dog.
so that makes taking it to the dogpark actually mistake number 2 and the first mistake being that you (from what I gather) did no prior research on the breed you wanted before getting the dog..

so learn from your mistakes, educate yourself about the breed. there are lot's of threads on this site that'll get the basics down, just read the sticky's from every part of the forum and do not take your doggy to the dog park again to avoid such bad situations

well said people like us try hard to get the public to open there minds up about our breed and people like joe just knock it all to shit by thinking you can take a APBT to the dog park this breed DOESNT NEED FRIENDS IT NEEDS WORK!!!!!
stay away from the dog park and doggie play dates get yer dog a spring pole or a weight pull harness or some agility coruse stuff and put him to work just because you dont think your dog is DA doesnt mean its not you first mistake was going to a dog park your second mistake was letting another dog come up to yours to say hi now every one who saw what happend has a bad taste in there mouth about APBT's

If you work with them like you said then you should know this

You summed things up perfectly.

I am so glad that you love your dog and your bully enough to not go back to the dog park. It shows a lot that you learned from that experience and you even told others about your negative experience so maybe when others read this they will see that a bully will always get the bad end of the situation no matter what happened, which makes dog parks a HUGE risk.

Dog parks are just a bad idea... honestly, I wish they would close them all. There's nothing there but bad news waiting to happen.. Dog parks carry nothing but germs, diseases, and irresponsible owners that do not keep up with their dogs. It's a nice idea... but you never know what kind of dogs are going to be there... you have no way of knowing if the dogs are well socialized, UTD on shots, and any dog can be dog aggressive. However, if any incident happens at a dog park involving a "pit bull type" dog, that will be the dog that is blamed with starting the problem, regardless of whether or not that's the way it happened. I wouldn't take any of my dogs to a dog park, and I have 6 dogs of various breeds, mainly mixed breeds.... but I wouldn't even take the Shih Tzu there. Just a bad idea, and I don't trust the other people there to be responsible dog owners.

I guess petco might not be the best place to take one either. I was at a truck shop in cedar city Utah. Well they had this boxer. My dog at first didn't take too kindly to the boxer and the boxer wanted nothing to do with me. Well they got to sniffing g and playing but I guess the boxer got annoyed and went after my dog I had him on a leash. So I raised my voice and they both just sat there so nothing happened. But the boxer all of a sudden started following me around and letting me pet it and even hug it. I heard it wasn't right to make it look bigger and meaner by making it pull weights. However where do I get that kind of stuff

Before I get jumped by allowing him around a strange dog. He usually is good around other dogs. The shop told me that boxer needed its butt whipped but I wasn't going to let them do anything. I knew the breed was animal aggressive but he was pretty good around dogs. Now cats and birds on the other hand

I was just walking at this convenience store and a strange man asking for something and offering me change came out of the dark and star started to growl at him. I pulled him away. Then I had some Indian kids in a car(native American) ask if he was a pit and he got all excited. Now is this good or bad because I believe he was just trying to protect me

Famous last words

Just be extra super carefull when you let that happen just because you think he is good around other dogs doesn't mean the other dog is i used to have a boxer that would jump on any dog he seen carry a break stick with you just in case there good for scaring off other dogs along with releasing a good bite grip

Wolfe's Pond, Willowbrook, Bloomingdale, or Clove Lake? Keep your bulldog out of those dog runs. The people who bring their dogs there have their heads up their asses not paying attention. Dyker and Owl's Head in Brooklyn is even worse.
