Crating (or caging) is "cruel"????
Titan is about 50/50, do you crate your dog when not home?
Always, he'd probably be fine not crated, but he used to like to dig in the trash and do other unsavory things when no one was around so I'd rather he just sit and wait in his crate for us to come home. I work from home so, he's not often in there unless he wants to be
No but they are separated.
Mine are chained, i think crating is unfair for long periods of time, such a little space.
Yes, both are in separate crates, when we are not home.
Peace of mind for us, and the cat is grateful, too http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png |
Yes.. for various reasons. She's still a puppy being the biggest one.
Only the puppy. The possible APBT is in a room. The two older mutts get the rest of the house.
well gigi gets put into her crate/area.
gottie gets the house but he never ventures too far from the couch when we are not home. |
Yes, Mater is crated when we are not home. He does get crated for long periods of time - not really something I like but it has to be done. Next summer, I will be setting up a chain spot with a 8ft fence around it - too many dogs run loose.
Lily is crated, Liberty gets free roam of the house.
how do you train a dog not to whine when crated, nova whines so loud our neighbors complain so in turn he roams free because i dont want to piss my neighbors off.
Yes mine is. My cats would group together and murder me if she wasn't. PLus she's still a puppy so she can't be 100% trusted yet.
all my dogs are crated at night and when im not home it dont take but few times to walk around the house half asleep and step in a pile of dog crap
IMO crateing is the best way to go my dogs aren't gaurd dogs i have a wife for that so there is no need to let them run around at night or when im gone |

Close the windows, so your neighbors won't be 'entertained'. |

Everybody except our 2 old females (one husky and one mutt) are crated when both of us aren't home (which isn't often) and at night. Because we run a rescue and have more dogs than normal that are crated and rotated, one of us stays up until 3am with the dogs and the other gets up at 6am. Our license allows us to have 20 dogs at a time but we usually have about 10. The dogs are let out in groups of 2 to 6. My husband hangs out in one room with one group and I hangout in another with a different group. We usually have a volunteer outside with the other group, otherwise they're crated.
crated, kenneled or chained, depends on how hot it is.
Yup. They are all crated when I leave.
Yup, mine are. They LOVE their crates. All I say is "wanna go upstairs" and they're both at the gate (I gate off my upstairs, the only access they have up there is to go into their room into their crates) waiting. It's because I give them a bone every time they go in them http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/wink.png The most they're ever in there during the day is maybe 4hrs., but they do spend all night in them.
Yes, ours are both in kennels when we leave the house (not often) and at night.
