Tony took up painting.

More recently he was working on assemblages & collages.

Last year I stayed with friends in Palm Springs,
where one of Tony's earlier paintings was on view ...

The house, like the canvas, was pure California Desert 1970's,
complete with sunken kitchen surrounded by an L-shaped bar --
great for holding court and entertaining:

The house belonged to my friend's relative -- a Hollywood old-timer,
sideways connected to show biz and with the mementos to prove it:

Of course there was a pool, perfectly situated:

I can imagine Tony hanging out there for a weekend.
