This one is sure to spark a debate...but yes, Barry Bonds.
Plus you said athlete...Vick is one hell of an athlete. But I think you meant sports player so I'm stick with Bonds. First off, the roids. Anyone who says he's not on them is either the biggest homer ever, or he's just a plain fuckin idiot. Then you've got the fact that no one pitches to him. The common reponse to this is "look what he does when you do pitch to him." Yeah well, if you let him get you so intimidated, you're gonna get fucked up. His fielding/baserunning is waaaay overrated, and his avg. is high because he doesnt get a chance to do much besides HR (which not to mention he has one of the shortest RF's to hit into ever) or walk. |

I'd reword that from "athlete" to "football player" JayGlo. Noone can deny how good of an athlete he is, but as far as being a QB...he's overrated as hell And as far as Bonds goes, we're talking in the here & now...he's slowed a lot and he hasn't impressed me with his fielding...and like I said, his HRs are so fake...he should definately have an asterisk next to his total. And like I said, his average is inflated because all the walks he gets gives him less at-bats. I guarantee if this guy was actually pitched to and feared less, his numbers would go down so far...again, that's not even taking into account the "juice" factor. |

And I agree on that totally...he's got a lot to grasp before he's a good "QB". |

It's almost as if Vick was trying to show us how bad of a QB he is.
Against one of the NFL's worst defenses, he went a pathetic 7/21... That's a 33% completion percentage against a porous, bad defense. Oddly enough, his offense only put up 3 points today. I've said it before and I'll say it again... He's a running back that just happens to line up under center. |

Roy Jones and Oscar De La Hoya
roy made a career out of beating scrubs. and the highest grossing pay per view matches were all oscar LOSSES (tyson had a claim in that highest grossing losses on ppv too). who has oscar beaten worth mentioning in a while? Vargas was the last notable one. Where is Vargas now?before that the biggest name was Camacho...as an old fart. 2 of oscars 'wins' over notables (Quarte and Whittaker) were extremely suspect at best. he REALLY lost both of those fights. as a matter of fact, stevie wonder could see that he REALLY lost that fight before his loss to Hopkins. What was that guys name? that's the point exactly **Edited--political statement deleted by Treypops** |

I agree about Jeter...he's not overrated, not by a long-shot. In fact, A-Rod is more overrated than Jeter.
As far as the whole average thing goes...I know that walks have no direct effect on average. What I'm saying is that if he was pitched to more, I'm sure his numbers wouldn't be the same because he'll be in different situations. And I still don't know why they walk Bonds so much, but don't pitch around guys like Pujols, Thome, Ramirez, etc. and so forth. |

Ok first off i don't know how you can call Derek Jeter overrated. I hate the Yankees and i respect his talent. This guy comes to play every day, sacrafices his body for the team and puts up numbers. He also usually hits when it counts.
Second, take away the home runs from bonds and he still hit what .360? 370? and thats taking into account how carefully people pitch to him, how few good pitches he sees and how few actual official at bats he has. this guy is a tremendous athlete, and i haven't seen anyone with an eye for the strike zone like him since Tony Gwynn. he may not have hit as many home runs without the steroids but he would still be one of the most dangerous hitters in baseball I would agree that Michal Vick is one of the most over-hyped players to exist in sports history, even now sportscasters are still on his nuts before games, they just are a little more careful how they word it. He probably has the most raw athletic talent of anyone in football, but he is poop as a Quarterback. |

How can you call Jeter overrated when he's been a mighty big cog in the Yankees' World Series victories? If Derek Jeter played in Minnesota, no one would even consider him to be one of the best shortstops in the game. But he's the captain of the Yankees, and he's been hyped into a first ballot Hall of Famer. |
