Bonds' stats are bogus.

Your comments on Ruth and Aaron were pointless. They played the game. Bonds changed himself so he could keep playing.
Not only are you 100% correct that ruth and aaron played the game but if the other dude wants to penalize ruth and aaron for smaller ballparks than you have to penalize this generation of stars for playing with a ball whos stitches are wound tighter which causes it to be hit further. As of 1970 or so they changed the make of the ball and so this past generation and a half had that benefit. And lets not even get into the depleted pitching cause of overexpansion. Could you imagine what Ruth or mays etc would do in coors??? Oh my...

As far as Big Mac; Andro isnt technically a steroid. Its a strand of a legalized steroid...and thats not an oxymoron. And the only reason it was taken off the market was because of public outcry after Mac hit the record and people started bitching.

How the hell can you say alot of SS are camped under that ball?
Because a lot of shortstops are faster than Jeter.

And that one play won the guy the Gold Glove. Overrated.

This one is sure to spark a debate...but yes, Barry Bonds.

Plus you said athlete...Vick is one hell of an athlete. But I think you meant sports player so I'm stick with Bonds.

First off, the roids. Anyone who says he's not on them is either the biggest homer ever, or he's just a plain fuckin idiot.

Then you've got the fact that no one pitches to him. The common reponse to this is "look what he does when you do pitch to him." Yeah well, if you let him get you so intimidated, you're gonna get fucked up. His fielding/baserunning is waaaay overrated, and his avg. is high because he doesnt get a chance to do much besides HR (which not to mention he has one of the shortest RF's to hit into ever) or walk.
You're insane.

The last time I check hitting over 700 homeruns is a pretty hard thing to do. So, even if he did do roids' he still had to swing the bat. If they want to take his record away then lets take Ruth and Aaron because they played in a era where the ballparks were smaller, and then take away McGuires because he was a user of roids'. The most overrated player in sports is Tom Brady. He would not have any super bowl wins with out a kicker and defense. Any Qb could win a super bowl with that style of offense and that defense that they had when they won both super bowls.
Bonds' stats are bogus.

I'm gonna have to say Jeter is overrated for no other reason than the fact that he is called the best shortstop in baseball. Last year, and I don't have the numbers on this, I don't think he was in the top five for batting average, fielding percentage or RBIs. The RBI part is especially bad since he has so many other talented players around him.

Actually, I do have the statistics:

Fifth in average
Fifth in RBIs
Sixth in hits
I couldn't find fielding percentage, but I couldn't see it being great because he has been knocked for his fielding his entire career.

Also, for those who point to that catch where he jumped into the stands as being great, I would have to say that it was only a routine pop fly. If he would have slid or dived when trying to make the catch, he wouldn't have had to take the extra steps into the stands. It looked like a great play, but I don't think he should have had to take those extra steps and dive into the stands.

With that said, I agree that Jeter is a good shortstop, but he is overrated because he is often called the best in the leauge when he isn't the best at anything.
Heres Jeters fielding stats: http://www.baseball-reference.com/j/jeterde01.shtml

As far as the rest of the argument; Youre right hes not the best at anything...until the postseason. Hes just a winner and a heads up player much like Rose. You cant quantify that into tangible stats.

Ok first off i don't know how you can call Derek Jeter overrated. I hate the Yankees and i respect his talent. This guy comes to play every day, sacrafices his body for the team and puts up numbers. He also usually hits when it counts.

Second, take away the home runs from bonds and he still hit what .360? 370? and thats taking into account how carefully people pitch to him, how few good pitches he sees and how few actual official at bats he has. this guy is a tremendous athlete, and i haven't seen anyone with an eye for the strike zone like him since Tony Gwynn. he may not have hit as many home runs without the steroids but he would still be one of the most dangerous hitters in baseball

I would agree that Michal Vick is one of the most over-hyped players to exist in sports history, even now sportscasters are still on his nuts before games, they just are a little more careful how they word it. He probably has the most raw athletic talent of anyone in football, but he is poop as a Quarterback.

What about vince carter, another amazing athelete, but he is never the guy that you can build a successful team around (IMO). Although, if he didn't have so many injuries the last few years he would be hyped up much much more.

Keyshawn Johnson. Made out to be great for a number of years and was never close to being great.
Keyshawn Johnson definitely is overrated, especially by his loudmouth self. I could be wrong, but I think he still claims to be the 'best wide receiver in his draft class.'

Other WRs in his draft class: Marvin Harrison, Terrell Owens, Eric Moulds, Amani Toomer, Muhsin Muhammad, Joe Horn, Terry Glenn.

Granted, he's better than a couple of them (Definitely not better than Harrison or Owens), but at this point in time, I'd take almost all of them on my team over him, with the exception of probably Amani Toomer.

He's too fragile for RB.

Kordells been a Qb since college @ Colorado. Ask michigan about his hail mary exploits with Michael Westbrook. He did get a little time at wr on trick plays with pitt early in his career though.
But didn't he come up with Pittsburgh as a RB?

Not sure if anyone said it but TIGER WOODS. The man is good at what he does, but everytime he is on tv the tv station pops a chub over him. He barely makes the cut and every shot of his is shown. like i said, I know he is good, but I think he is over rated.
Its bad, but i laugh when he hits people in the galley. Not at getting hit, but more that Tiger can struggle with hitting the ball straight, something us regular folk deal with.

First of all, Derek Jeter is not overrated. I hate the Yankees but I think you guys are letting you Yankees hatred get the best of you. He's not the best player, but he's got great leadership skills. And even if we've got to hear a little more about Derek Jeter than we should based on his playing ability, it's not bad, because he deserves the attention.

Players that are more/equally overrated: Chad Pennington, Clinton Portis, Roy Williams, Tom Brady, Kurt Warner (for a while).

But all of these guys pale in comparison to the leading overrated asshole in all of sports: Bill Parcells.
