In the late '60s, the US government, in an attempt to quell the hippie drug crazy, released tons of oxygen into the atmosphere. Oxygen was known, at the time, to be a highly addictive substance that in large quantities could calm its subjects. The rationale was that it would replace addictive tendencies of mainstream drugs and pacify the anti-war radicals at the time. However, it was soon discovered too late that oxygen was so addictive that withdrawal for even a short period of time was fatal. This, interestingly, did not hinder plans to add more oxygen to the atmosphere as conservatives believed that people would turn to smoking to protect their lungs from this corrosive gas. Thus, the tobacco lobby was born. -FACT!

Xenu, I think. I read L. Ron's books, well his fictionand sci-fi (Battlefield Earth; Invasion or something) and he isn't half bad. But his psycho scientology followers are wackos. Souls from a spaceship into a volcano and something. I have no idea, just know they are against prescription pills and love the dialectic. I got a free copy of the dialectic book. Lame.

Some others:
The Incas hid vast amounts of gold from the Spanish by transporting it over the Andes to one of their cities -- now lost -- located in the Amazon rain forest. And there's also the Oak Island mystery up on Nova Scotia. We KNOW that vast amounts of wealth is buried beneath the "Money Pit," and that it was buried hundreds of years ago. But who were the clever devils that dug the pit and booby trapped it so well that, after decade of digging, none of the treasure has yet been recovered? Some say it was Blackbeard. Some say it was the British navy after they sacked Havana. Does Atlantis count as a conspiracy theory?? ![]() |
