Default Did you buy anything unusual/rare recently?
Recently, I bought an issue of National Geographic dated February 1944[yes] from a 2nd hand bookshop in Malaysia. Despite being 63 years old, the magazine was still in fairly good condition . It was a window to the past and contained several colour photographs, which were rare in the 1940s.

But it also contained some racial slurs, especially against the Japanese. And advertisements encouraging the American public to buy war bonds.

That was during the WWII, what did you expect? A lot of the old folks now will still get their knickers in a twist when talking about it. My grandparents are from that time too.

Recently bought some Angel Eyes and a strutbaybar for my car.

Don't know if that qualifies for being unusual?? Definately not rare...

Pics:

If it's not unusual enough, I'll remove em...

I bought a 1943 U.F.H. spearpoint bayonet for my 1943 Springfield M1 Garand. U.F.H. (Union Fork and Hoe) was a garden tool company that was contracted by the government during WWII to take older model bayonets (very long bayonets, like 18" long) and cut them down to 12" or less. When they would do this, they would make a spearpoint (double sided point) rather than try to recreate the standard knifepoint on these bayonets. It's a rare bayonet.

I'm SELLING something rare this weekend (FINALLY putting it on ebay after months of procrastination LOL)- my 1995 Gibson Les Paul Classic Premium Plus with AAA matchbook maple top in Heritage Classic Sunburst finish. It's got Seth Lover P.A.F. pickups (both autographed on the back by Seth E. Lover himself (RIP) and Seymour W. Duncan). Should fetch a pretty penny...

Not rare but dated. I bought a Carl Gustaf m/96 "swedish mauser". Manufacture date is 1900. Numbers match. [thumbup]

It has been sporterize with gunsmith work, barrel has been tapped for scope mounts and a black synthetic stock. The scope is crap, a cheap simmons. I am looking for a wood stock for it.

It shoots 1" groups at 100 yards, not bad for a 107 year old rifle/action.

Hmmmm. You might want to see if Boyds or Fajen make one for that rifle (they make nice wood stocks for Mausers, not sure about M96 though). You could always have a custom made one, which would also be nice if you intended to keep the gun (would make it more personal to you)....

Bought a NEW 939 FX60 the other day. Yeah, but it was cheap and I needed a dual core for a backup.

Today I actually bought off ebay a 1980 280zx distributor and a E12-80 module to upgrade my points distributor in my 240z to this electronic setup. Should run a little smoother, more reliable and even give me a few HP.

It's a 330Ci.
Still on a lookout for a nice M3 though. But I'll probably keep this one for a few years.

Not really an unusual purchase but an odd free 'gift'.

I purchased three UK/US converter plugs and I was given the cheapest plastic doorstop I've ever seen as a complementary gift.

I wonder what went through the sellers mind? Hmmm, buying converter plugs, probably going travelling, what does every traveller need? A doorstop!

I bought a packet of Quorn (fake) chicken fillets, and I'm not even a vegetarian. Does that count?
