Sweet.. i gotten Panasonic Viera S10 50inch back in Nov, and yes its awesome [thumbup]

I hate "bright and vivid" colors. Deep, rich colors of a plasma are much better, much more life-like, in my opinion.
Agreed.

I gotta say.. i find it weird when the ads kept stating that lcd/led tvs has "true life image quality" when they showing freaking high contrast/bright/vivid colors as u mentioned.. since when life-like image we see everyday has freaking bright/vivid colors around us?.. lol

Btw, what exactly backlights u use on the back of yer plasma?.. *just curious*

Cheers

Congrats on the Panasonic plasma, they are phenomenal. [thumbup]

Baraka is hands down the best looking BD on the market, Blade Runner is a very close second though.

I got a new projector yesterday, Mitsubishi HC3800.

It's a great machine for the money, the colours just pop out of the screen, much better than the old Optoma I had.

The projector wall mount however wasn't so great, after doing all my calculations and measurements the picture was way, way off. The arm was twsited just a fraction but that was enough to put in image up onto the ****ing ceiling so it's another week without the pj while I wait for a replacement.

But plasma displays are succeptable to screen burning (a persistantly stationary on-screen image leaving a ghost image permanantly on the screen) right?

I would be careful when playing games on that TV (the status bars in video games can cause screen burn).

Screen burning is a thing of a past, on high end plasma's anyway (i.e Panasonic) And they don't get hot like people mention either, not as hot as people make out anyway. My plasma is always very cool and not even warm.

In the same way that LCDs are ghosting blurry messes with milky bleeding backlights. Both addressed many years ago by manufacturers. It is perfectly safe to game away for many hours on a plasma right out of the box. The only recommendation is that the contrast isn't cranked up right away. In fact, plasmas are arguably better for gaming than LCD.

Yeah, they can. If you play the game 18 hours straight.

Nice screen. It's basically the same screen I got my folks to buy. I've been watching it for the last two weeks while visiting and now I'm back home to my old 32" LCD.

Great bang for buck from large plasma screens and look better than smaller more expensive LCD. I take it a lot of people just think that LCD offers higher IQ simply because it costs more...

I'd take Ikea lights and a Panasonic plasma over a Philips LCD with build-in lights any day.

awesome TV sir =) I was looking into a Panasonic plasma. Truth be told though my surrounds are suited to give plasma its due, so I went with a Midrange LCD. (52" Phillips 5704D 120hz, 2ms, etc)

They are awesome TV's though, Im sure your enjoying the hell outta it =)

and lol there is some hatting on LCD in here lol. While I agree overall Plasma is the better tech, a well calibrated LCD can produce a pretty nice picture. (cheap LCDs aside, yuck)

And you know I'm viewing them on my computer, lol. Those two facts alone show that my computer monitor can produce better pictures than what I am looking at.
In other words I'm an annoying piss ant who has nothing better to do but sheet on a thread. You keep your LCD.

I would love to have a new HDTV. In some cases bigger isn't always better, but at this quality, its nice. If you can't see the quality even through those pictures get lost troll.

Thats hard to believe. But I guess that depends on what you call "very cool". But if your definition is anywhere near the normal definition, that its simply wrong. Of course they get warm. Not hot, but definately warm.

I have this one http://www.panasonic.de/html/de_DE/P...723/index.html , which is probably one of the most "regular" Plasmas with a decent technology, and it gets as warm as a normal CRT for example.

My Panasonic isn't even warm to touch after several hours of use.
Burn-in/IR is a non-issue too.
I've played GTA4 for hours on it on the very first day, and there wasn't even a hint of IR, much less any burn-in.

It get's very slightly warm after being on for over 8 hours, but even so I have it on for like 4 days none stop sometimes and after that much time it's only very slightly warm. It's nothing noticeable though and alwlays seems more on the cooler side then warmer.
