Default Anyone notice support forums not so supportive these days...
It seems when you look around for help there are a lot of similar questions and most often a " I figured it out" but dont post the answer. Or you get 300 views with no one commenting. This doesnt go for just FM, I see it at MS forums, the green button and a few others. What is this world coming to?

I think we've almost reached the point that every question that could logically be asked of every thing is somewhere to be found through a Google search. No one has the time to wait for a few forum replies.

One day students will be asked a question by their teachers in the classroom, they will type the question into their Google Data Pads built into their Google Desks and give an answer provided by Google. The teacher will then give them a Google A+.

That's what this world is coming to.

Remember when calculators weren't allowed in schools?

Sometimes people get sick of answering the same damned questions over and over.
Sometimes people don't remember how they fixed the problem.
Sometimes people don't know the answer.
Sometimes people view a post so they can see what the poster is asking.
Sometimes people just don't give a damn!

Can be many reasons - doesn't generally mean the support is deliberately not being posted!

Combination of factors really...

1) google
2) too many people say "I know" instead of "i'm guesssing"

Yeah I know exactly what you mean! I can't seem to figure out what has happened.

Edit > Don't worry, I just figured it out. Thanks.

I think the problem is not that the information is alreadly all out there so people figure you should just search for it instead of ask for it, but that searching has made people substantially stupid in the sense that they don't actually know how to answer the question at all. People just seek out other people's answers, and if they can't find them then the question has hit a dead and and the forum thread dies. And that's added to the fact that the people asking the questions may or may not have made any real effort to even attempt to solve the problems themselves.

Once upon a time, people who could troubleshoot computer issues or whatnot were very rare. Now everyone thinks they can do it because they can Google it, but actually those people are still very rare. Very few people have real skills with a computer - the ability to diagnose and solve problems is as unique now as it was then. Connecting a bunch of morons who rely on Google for every answer doesn't make a sum greater than its parts... Just a collective of morons.

I think most people come to forums seeking advice based on other users' personal experience rather than an official diagnosis of the problem.

For example: there are lot of issues out there (in the technological sense) that can only be rectified as a result of other people's trial and error, and their subsequent education from that experience. I mean, how many times have you found a problem with a piece of hardware or software that you know the documentation would not cover? That has happened heaps of times... and while Google may provide a general indication that similar problems exist, forums like this one provide people with a somewhat personal connection to the people from whom they are seeking a solution. Also, the benefit of seeking advice in a forum is there are many people with experiences in all facets of technology and once you are a member you pretty much have access to ask questions and to have them answered.

I agree that there are a large handful of people who would Google up a solution and post a carbon copy of it in reply to someone who is querying the problem, but there are a lot of people still here (like myself) who only ever offer up advice is the issue has been experienced first hand and been resolved in one way or another.
