A couple months ago, that figure would be bang on if you were buying a pack of smokes in Zimbabwe.

Wonder what will happen next. Here in Australia similar screw ups happen from time to time. For example, a guy was charged for speeding past a speed camera. Problem is he wasn't speeding, the road was only a few hundred meters in length and he was caught doing over 10,000km/h. A similar case happened (speed camera again) when a women was charged several hundred dollars for doing 200km/h in a 90km zone. She got a professional to drive her car on the race track and it was only able to top 110km/h. She still had to pay the fine.

Several years ago when the government was handing out a large sump of money to families several couples ended up with a sh*t ton of money cause they got paid numerous times when they were only meant to be paid once.

But over a quadrillion dollars for a pack of smokes? What kind of error would produce that?

I think I read once that if you had some way to siphon off the lost money from every rounding error being made in financial transactions (or even a portion of them) all over the world, you would soon be one of the richest people on the planet.

Don't know if its even theoretically possible (or true) but it sounded intriguing at the time.

So that's how Goldman Sachs made such a profit and can still pay their employees like this...
