It's a really strange feeling after the tooth is out. Trying to eat or drink without disturbing the clot is quite hard, and washing your mouth with salt water isn't too nice either
I know, got constant pain just now that feels like it's coming from top gum, strange

I am getting all 4 wisdom teeth taken out the end of the month, I am going to an oral and maxofacial surgeon to do it rather than a dentist. The surgeon focuses only on surgery, so they are going to put me out cold for it.

I would look into if you could go to an oral maxofacial surgeon if you get others taken out in the future.

Aw mate I don't envy you lol

Good luck with that, I feel like a big loser with just the one out moaning all the time, 4 would be hardcore pain, unless a maxofacial guy can work some sort of magic

Getting put out is silly, you miss out on the experience when the person gets big ******* pliers and yanks the teeth out and your whole head is shifting with the movement [rofl][rofl]

I'm quite sure my dentist was enjoying herself lol

My dentist had tennis elbow, and was about to go home before I came in to have mine taken out. I'm sure she wished she had done, after the battle that was taking my tooth out.

What's with all the people getting teeth pulled around here?

The "magic" is known as Vicodin, and lots of it. [thumbup] All 4 of my wisdom teeth are gone, but I had 2 out at a time instead of all 4. They were impacted and had to go. I went to a maxillofacial surgeon instead of a dentist as well. In fact, my dentist wouldn't even dream of doing what my surgeon did. While I didn't like the pain afterwards, now that they're gone and I don't have to worry about them messing up my other teeth, it was well worth it.

Edit: If you were to go to a maxillofacial surgeon, I sure hope you've got dental insurance.

for me I got them pulled because the orthodontist (going to fit braces, bent teef) said I had too many, so out 4 went. This was back in 1995 though

My jaw was "too small" for all of my teeth so my orthodontist went about expanding my jaw with a jaw expander. Worked well as far as I can tell. Had that and braces done 1997-2000. Took about a year more than if I went straight to braces, but I was able to have all of my teeth except for the wisdom teeth I had out. Now granted, my parents didn't wait until I was in highschool to get this done, so this was pretty much all done to my baby teeth. I don't know how easy it would be to expand an adult jaw, but it worked for me.
Oh, and as far as bent teeth, you should have seen some of mine! I actually had one that was at almost 90 degrees compared to the others! [rofl]

Only one is slightly impacted. Just barely. But the one above it has come in too far. So those 2 have to go. The other 2 are actually not causing any problems yet. But, I decided I would rather have my butt kicked all at once rather than have 2 out now and then 2 out later. I would rather just be done with it all at once.

The older you get the more they interfere with your nerves in your jaw. So, I want to get them out before I turn 30. The doctor said it actually shouldn't be bad. Because what causes most of the pain is the impacted teeth. And mine aren't, except for part of the one.

Default Need some advice (Teeth related)
I've had problems with teeth on the right side of my mouth for a while now, one of my mollars(sp?) on the bottom was heavily filled and I started getting REALLY bad pain when eating, shooting so it felt like the top 2 teeth, the pain would come on after I'd finished eating and last for 10 mins or so.

So the dentist had a look, couldn't see anything wrong with the top ones, I have since assumed it's this heavily filled one.

The tooth is now sore when I push it, but not heat/cold sensitive, which leads me to think it's dead??

Went back today and he took the filling out and put a dressing on it, he mentioned it might be dead but I'm not 100% sure.

Options are root canal treatment, possible problems in future
Or take it out, big gap in my teeth, problems chewing?

The filling might be high. I've had a few fillings that were too high and they caused significant pain on the teeth just above it. It pushed the tooth and bruises the root or something. The dentist sorted it for me. She said its difficult to determine if the filling is right the first time as you are frozen and can't really tell.

Worth asking your dentist about.

edit - nm, missed that you had the filling out. Still may be as it took a while for the top teeth to heal up.

Root canal would be good to keep the tooth there, but he said it could lead to it being brittle later, crown involved etc not sure what that would cost, I'll phone tommorrow and ask.

So root canal over pulling it out?
