And a manager From tonight's performance, we didn't deserve to go through. As much as i'd like to see the England team go through, the performance we put up was desperation and just disgraceful as a result. Until 2010, some crucial lessons are to be learnt with a huge reform in order me thinks. ![]() |

I skipped the first 59 posts, probably for good reason.
McLaren should never have been given the job in the first place. I'm not sure if I ever made it public on these boards but I knew that appointing him would mean England not getting to Euro 2008, and him being sacked soon after. Lo and behold, that has happened. Perhaps not him being sacked as of yet, but if he is still England manager this time tomorrow then something is VERY wrong. If the man had a shred of dignity he would resign and save the FA a lot of money that could be used elsewhere. Alas, I fear he is hanging on for a 'Golden Parachute'. Quite frankly, there are more people to blame than simply Simple Steve. If anyone at the FA has a shred of responsibility they will know that this man shouldn't have been appointed, and all gladly tender their resignation. English football needs more than simply a sacrificial lamb. What they need is a complete re-organisation from the top to the bottom. The men in charge at the moment aren't football men, they are money men, there to ensure the £££s keep flowing into the English regardless of the state of the game. People may point the fingers at foreign managers and foreign players, but the fact of the matter is England have the best team at their disposal for a long, long time. The reason for the repeated failure is the insistence that 'star players' are named in the line-up, rather than those who deserve to be there. Sad day for British football, but quite frankly its a wake-up call that needs to be answered. |
