Rambo is a great classic movie.
But if i start thinking like some of you, then Rambo is diluted in to nothing more then a crying psychopath who starts shooting **** up cause he didnt get a sandwich.

But thats not the case. All the original Rambos are great classic movies. And Someday, Transformers will be as well, thanks to all the fans it has.

Stop comparing First Blood to Transformers. It has nothing to do with it.
First blood is a good film in the first place, not because of the damn fans but because it has a great story based on a novel of the same name with Stallone being placed perfectly as the awkward and socially inept Vietnam vet. And no, not all the original rambos are great movies. The other two are just overdone hollywood standard fare a huge exaggerations and a bunch of fx thrown in. Just like Transformers.

Even though i do like Rambo, if i start complaining like half of you about Transformers, then Rambo is nothing more then, about a guy who didnt get a sandwich, so he starts shooting **** up, and at the end of the movie he cries. All he wanted is a sandwich and freaking hug.

And where do you think Transformers movie come from? Out of thin air? No it came from a great classic cartoon. It was much better movie then a lot of movies ever came out.
Adrenaline, and Transporter 2, that was liquid ****, and people loved it. Then we got movies like Death Proof and War this year, terrible movies, and the list goes on and on.
Have you seen 30,000 leagues under the sea? It came out this year. Watch it, it will make you cut your own balls off after first 5min of the movie.
My point is, there are movie and always will be x100 times worse then Transformers. If you didnt like, no one wants to hear about it.

Almost forgot, since it seems that none of you served in any kind of military.

The reason they did go in to the City, besides special effects. Is because it is best place to use as defense then being out in the open, specially when you have two aerial enemy targets against you. Thus city provides more cover, rather then being picked of in the open space in the middle of the desert. And having a fight near or in a water dam, would result in a water dam damage it self, which is much more important then few office buildings.

Thus, if you look at the credits, you will see there is a Military Advisor that was used in the making of the movie.

Harry Humphries is a highly decorated former Navy SEAL who currently works as a consultant/actor on Hollywood films

A bad movie is a bad movie - regardless of the bells and whistles.

Rambo was a good movie in that it was internally consistent and had good values for the genre.
Movies like Armageddon are bad movies as they ignore the most simple physics and so look rediculous, rather than incorporating correct physics and having a more realistic affect.
BTW, I haven't seen it for a few years, I can't recall the sandwich bit but remember him as a drifter who was victimised by the sheriff and his deputies and struck back to stop them.

I watched it yesterday with a friend.
We both are 32 years old and loved the old cartoons when we were young.

We also loved this movie.
Yes, the storyline wasn't that great, but for us it was all about the special effects and cars/planes transforming into robots...
Really looking forward to the next one!

Films are not rated good or bad depending on the other releases that year. That doesn't make sense. Art is valued according to it's artistic demeanour and value. In the case of Transformers, it has none. And don't start trying to find stupid excuses, they don't mention anything about the city anywhere and even if it still wouldn't be any better. The problems in the film are a far deeper than the few missteps people mentioned.

Are you sure ? Typical reaction of someone that can't find any more arguments (or that of a 14 year old).

I just told you my opinion. We liked it, period.

What do you mean, no arguments. I stated a lot of different reasons why I did not like the film.

You just said that you're 32 and you really liked it. How is that relevant ?

I posted my age in trying to explain that the transformer cartoon was very populair when I was young.

A childish reaction to my age by saying "are you sure" wasn't really necisary.
Especially not because I didn't even go into a discussion with you. I only posted my first answer in this thread and it was only my opinion.

Anyway, good luck with this thread.
I liked it and there are a lot more people who also like it

Umm...yes we do. This thread isn't labeled "Transformers Film (BTW if you didn't like it don't post)". This is a discussion forum.

Rotten Tomatoes Critics Tomatometer:

Spiderman: 90%
X-Men: 79%
X-men United 87%

Transformers: 57%

I had to check to make sure I wasn't going mad as I seem one of the only ones bashing the film. At least the critics agree with me [help] lol

If anyone can name some good points about the film I may have overlooked other than the nostalgia value, I will admit I'm wrong...
Movie critics are the most jaded assholes on the planet, and basic your movie choices on other critics opinions makes you one as well. Movies are entirely subjective, and basing your opinion on someone elses is pretty rediculous. Some of the most enjoyable movie experiences that I've had received terrible "reviews" from critics. But you know what? It's all about your own personal experience. I could honestly give a rats ass what rotten tomatoes thought, I enjoyed the hell out of transformers (as did the 20 friends and family I watched it with).

Oh no they're not. How can you say that. You can even find differences between the reviews which makes some more relevant than the others.

Opinion is opinion and they can all be different, but not every opinion is a valid as others.

How is my mum's opinion on which is the best video card valid if the only thing that she knows is that the card outputs to the screen ?

That is exactly my point. Pointing to a database with compiled reviews by critics is nearly worthless, because all reviews are subjective. Simply assertaining that a better score signifies a better movie is just nonsense. Movies like transformers are designed to entertain your brain for a few hours, not aquire as many oscars as possible. Not knowing that going into an action movie is pretty idiotic.
