Absolute genius and was inspired from Divine. Every single night I read some Allama Iqbal before going to bed though I dont understand it. Trying to understand it really expands your mind.

Ok only positives here but look at this for example:

"Iqbal is capable of writing biting satire. Two examples are: “Give Me Another Adversary”, in which Satan argues that he deserves a better rival than Adam, and “Scorpion Land,” which criticizes slave mentality.
Mustansir Mir"

Are you asking for a fatwa on him? Gotta consult the ulama fuqaha for that.

Allama Sir Dr Muhammed Iqbal (RA) had got, apart from other training, German education. His writing are filled with idealism-not really surprising for the German connection. And he is also known as poet philosopher. Some people feel that he would have been great philosopher if he would have developed his idea of khudi (self, may be ego) further. I have seen portions of an Urdu documentary in which the narrator (perhaps because of the narrator's leftist bent) asserts that there was Islamic socialism in Iqbal's writings. Now all these isms are external to Islam and therefore it will not be difficult to find problems with his writings. Apart from the things I have mentioned above there is an obvious current of rebellion in his writings. This, as you too have identified, is not in line with the requirement of abdiat. Now having said all these things one is still obliged to take the the stock of things as a whole. Moreover since he is no more we are also obliged to make every effort to do taweel for him. Personally this sinner feels that one does not have to try too much to do that for Allama Iqbal. In the overall view he'll come out in the green and not in the red. But one has of course to do some work for that. As a result one will be safe to put Iqbal on a high pedestal as a Muslim. In any case there is no doubt about the fact that he was an Islamist-a man inclined towards Islam. And what more one requires?
(My two paisas.)
Wassalam

According to some sources, he became more practising by the end of his lifetime, stopped taking pictures and kept most of his correspondence on islamic issues with Allama Kashmiri R.A

Allama Iqbal was greatly influenced by Schacht, the German orientalist. During Allam Iqbal's earlier career his thoughts echoed that of his teacher which were naturally insidious. His series of lectures which has been published in a book form Reconstruction of Islamic Thought (correct me if i'm mistaken) has many orientalist ideas infused within it.

However, later on in life he developed a companionship with Maulana Syed Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi who alhumdulillah erased many of his earlier thoughts. His works written from this period are far more Islamic.

I hope this helps.

Allama Iqbal is without doubt one of my heros. Such a thinker and poet is rare in the Muslim history. Let us ask the Ameer ul Mumineen Mufti Husain sahib (db) if he can compare any other Muslim poet in history of Islam who had influence such as Allama Iqbal did in the formation of a totally unique and independent Islamic country for Muslims because afterall, Allama Iqbal is the foundation of Pakistan and if you dont believe me then just ask Moulana Taliban.

I hope for Allamah saheb's sake that he had grown at least a stubble in his final days to be considered authentic on this
forum ...

Hazrat Dr. Nadir Ali khan sahab damathu barakatuhum once told me that Mirza ghalib would spend the night reciting couplets and tying knots to a cloth.. and he would connect them further by forming couplets and untie them at dawn.. while Hazrat Allama Iqbal sahab would spend the night weeping with his one leg streched out moving it sideways and reciting Ash'ar.. it seemed as if inspired to him by ilham.. for a few years he had stopped writing and said he could not .. since he dint feel it coming.. was under some kind of Qabz.. then later on he again regained this blessing..

wa assalam..

he corresponded lot with Allama Kashmiri on the issue of 'zaman o makan in islamic point of view'. he also wrote a letter to Pir Meher Ali Shah on the same issue. he had a lot of respect for both of them.

zaman or makan. Tell me about this issue. I heard somebody mention something about it. You know of any mashaikh who can traverse zaman and makan or who have mentioned anything close to this?
