Is it Haraam to use the prayer call in a artwork?
Iam doing a university art project and wanted to make a video showing the decoration inside a church, but with the soundtrack of a muslim prayer call. I wanted to do this as a way of combining ideas of religion/the similarities and differences between Islam and Christianity and my mixed race as a British Muslim and to encourage people to think about religion when they see the film. What are your views on this - Is this Haraam? (forbidden) PS: Would it be better to have something else such as a prayer to God such as a Duaa'? |

Hi,
I am also an artist and I am very new to Islam. May I recommend something for you? I think it would be better for you to make a documentary style video instead of what you are proposing. As amr123 said, the Adhan is to be respected, those who watch your video need to know that you respect it also and see the importance of it in Islam. This is why I think it would be better for you to talk about it, or have an interview video with someone else talking about it. And remember we should not be comparing religions. Islam is the one true religion, one which we are all reverting back to. I think the subject is not something that needs to be discussed or shared or debated. Perhaps an artistic video celebrating the beauty of Islam would be nicer, show the world how beautiful it is. Maybe that in itself would be a powerful message to send out to people. I am not an expert but what if you were to write a poem, and recite it for your video, about the Adhan, how important it is, and how it makes you feel as a Muslim, perhaps this would be more acceptable? Again, I am not an expert I'm just saying from what I know/understand so far. Can someone correct me please? |
