i wear them because i sweat alot, and my t shirts may get sweaty/smelly. and can be uncomfortable (having sweaty armpit patches aha)

also, will i be allowed to pray salah in a vest ? i have been told just my arwah has to be covered...and have also been told my shoulders have to be covered ? so whats the dress code ?

thanks, much appreciated

Sheikhul Ahadeeth, Mufti Saeed Ahmed Palanpuri explains, that when is performing their fardh prayers, they should adorn themselves with best clothing, based on the ayah:

"O children of ’Ādam, take on your adornment at every mosque. Eat and drink and do not be extravagant. Surely, He does not like the extravagant." [7:31]

He says that this applies to fardh prayers; for nafl prayers, you do not have to be as particular.
And Allaah knows best.

Wa'laikum Assalaam,

I can't comment on wearing vests, however I can comment on how to control sweating in hot weather. I have the same problem, and what I have found works (a doctor will probably tell you the same) is drinking lots of water (meaning more than 2 litres a day), wearing baggier clothes and rubbing alcohol. Yes, rubbing alcohol. You see, what makes sweat smell is the bacteria that is on our skin, so kill the bacteria with small swabs of rubbing alcohol and you should be odor free all day inshAllah. Another great quality of rubbing alcohol is it 'shrinks' your pores, so this can also help to prevent sweating. Keep in mind, this is a band aid solution, and shouldn't be used on an everday basis, but it will help inshAllah.

Assalamu 'Alaikum akhi
