no judas priest?

besides judas priest I guess I like a lot of black sabbath's stuff but I'm not a big listener of metal so those are my only two
Good call. I still believe that Metallica is the greatest, but by my criteria (IMO,) 'Priest was the first real metal band as we recognize metal today.

or pantera
i dont really know

metallica is an obvious choice but i can't stand them

and to pudding time and i'm appalled to say my own mother [debbie t], rammstein can't really be the greatest metal band ever, they're NDH or industrial metal, lets just say they're the greatest BAND eve, and leave it at that haha ;]

He he. I was reluctant to mention them because of their late stuff. I just don't think I can let it overshadow their '80s stuff, which was incredible.

well, i couldn't miss them out because of my own bias :]

and to be fair, some of their songs are amazing, all of which would be from the 80s

i'm not so sure it's the music i don't like, but rather the way they are idolized by every teenage boy who thinks buying a metallica t-shirt makes him alternative and usually just wants to piss off his parents, lol major stereotype but i know way too many people who are just like that

LOL Boy, some things never change. That was me when I was a punker. But in my defense, I was wearing their stuff in the early '90s

exactly, teenage boys have done exactly the same thing for the past like 20 years, you think they'd realise that they're trying to annoy their parents in exactly the same way that their parent's annoyed their parents before they were even born haha

and lol getting a bit off topic now

Default Greatest Metal Band Evah!
I've seen a lot of threads about metal on here, so I think it's about time to lay our cards down.

Who's the greatest metal band of all time? Feel free to list your favorite release by them

I hate to be predictable, but Metallica gets my vote. Can't stand their late stuff, but their eighties releases are enough, IMO. Master of Puppets is a masterpiece.

Exhorder is my runner-up. It's too bad they didn't put out more stuff. Slaughter in the Vatican ruled. They created groove metal.

Im gonna go with Black Sabbath. Always thought Paranoid was their best album. I know it ranks in the top 5 of metal albums.

always been a Metallica fan..well anything older than ...And Justice For All works for me. the newer stuff is good but not as raw as the older stuff. Master Of Puppets is by far their best album to date.
