There's just no way of knowing OR guessing ... at least not yet ... too young and the dogs structure is not anywhere near defined.
About all you can say at this point is the pup is a mixed bred mutt. Not that there is anything wrong with that, I have one of those myself ... adopted from the local humane society. Why did the backyard breeder human deliberately breed two different breeds of dogs and why did you choose one from him when shelters and rescues are filled to overflowing with pups and dogs just from such breedings? I would never support backyard breeders. Too many "mistakes" are put to sleep by the thousands everyday. All you've done is encourage this type of careless activity. I'm not berating you, just commenting on an observation and thinking out loud. I'd be interested in knowing which registry and what registry sanctioned events, the "breeders" papered dog championed in. |

Not sure the details, exactly. Also currently where I reside, it is VERY hard to adopt pits, or any dogs of that matter from animal shelters. I was very interested in a rescued red nose that was part of a litter bred for fighting. However, my girlfriend has a 6 month pekinese which you can see in the picture I posted, and they would not allow it. The pit growled a bit and it was unfortunate. As for the details I don't know exactly what bloodline. All I know is that it had AKC paperwork which I suppose means jack now-a-days, but my girlfriend knows much more then I do because her step mother bred rhodesian ridgebacks that were show dogs and a champion blood line so the area of expertise was a bit more familiar to her then myself. Like I said I don't know much about pits, and I am here to question and to educate myself better. Sorry if I am coming off annoying or ignorant, I am just trying to learn. However as many have said time will tell. I simply posted pictures and had questions because I didn't know if there was a certain trait to look for that defined a pit pure or mix.

Just because I took it upon myself to adopt a dog doesn't mean I am a bad person, nor does it make me a bad person to come on here and ask questions. I thought that was the purpose of this site, to come, converse, and discuss pit related material.
---------- Post added at 09:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:46 PM ---------- Prada why do you persist on belittling my posts? |

You did not adopt your puppy, you bought it from a "breeder".
If your girlfriend and her mother are so adept with the dog world, I can't possibly understand how you've gotten yourself into this situation. I am not belittiling, I am frustrated with your actions. You wanted a pit bull, but then bought some mixed breed and came on here asking if it has any "pit" in it. Who honestly cares? If you did, you would have asked your dogs "breeder" all these questions before handing over the money for it. |

You're frustrated I purchased a dog? Also just so you know, it was an ADOPTION. I won't even justify myself to you by telling you how much I paid for it, however just so you know, going through certain websites, you are required to charge for the adoption or a "re homing fee" for legal purposes. Also I asked these questions received answers and came to this site to learn more.

... and your absolutely right. You've come to the right place. You're not a bad person and would just like opinions and discussion. That is what you're getting ... honest, real world answers to your questions. Don't take it personal and have a thick skin if need be.
I know it sucks to live in an area with Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) or where there is such a negative view of "pit bulls". I hope this puppy works out in your home and is a good fit ![]() |

Thank you for your constructive response, Joe, however some people here are taking it to a personal level. Why worry yourself what I do with my time? It isn't effecting any of you at all and you can see via the photos the dog is healthy and living a good life. Could be worst he could be sitting outside chained up living that kind of life like some people do, maybe even here.
---------- Post added at 10:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:59 PM ---------- Also if this dog was a rhodetian ridgeback than I would carry my questions to her step mother, however this dog isn't Prada. Not sure if you are aware of the difference so I thought I'd shed some light for you. Thank you anyway. |

First it's a deliberate breeding by a "breeder" with champion lineage, now it's suddenly an adoption for next to nothing..
What answers did you receive from your dogs breeder? What more can we possibly have to offer on the heritage of your mixed breed puppy? And yes, I am quite aware of the breed difference. Are you saying breeders of certain breeds are uneducated about any other breed and couldn't possibly point you in the right direction of a qualified breeder with standards? Also to add, Id like you to mention why we shouldn't care about purchasing and enabling BYBers to those who rescue dogs, and namely "Pit Bulls", for a living. |

Oh, and I would say you "rescued" him ... an "adoption" generally indicates that you got the pup from a rescue organization or shelter, had home visits by the facility to determine suitability and signed a contract that would include having your pup neutered ... which I hope you will strongly consider.

Pretty sure I listed he had more than one pit. Didn't say my pups mother was of that bloodline. I simply added some insight to the claim he gave me. All I asked was some distinctive traits that might be visible from the photos I listed. How simplistic could you be to believe I expected specific responses to the T simply by the yard heritage of a breeder and a photo of my dog? lol.

There's a lot more information being offered than what you asked for and frustrations are coming out. I'm just glad your here to learn and find help for your pup as you need it, Joey. I think your thread topic questions have been answered and so I'll just back away for you to have some "breathing room". I do hope you hang around and do lots of reading of the "sticky" threads at the top of each of the forums here. Man there's lots of good information.

If you don't care why post? Why waste your time and make yourself look like a fool saying you are frustrated about a decision I made from a post I created? Also some people obviously do care, they are giving me helpful responses. You are just looping it around. Since this is becoming such an in-depth conversation, I will go on and say her step mom lives 7 states and around 19 hours away. Her teleporting device was down the day I decided to take this dog with me. So she couldn't offer her god-like dog insight every breeder has about every type of dog. I am more than certain there are plenty of breeders out there than don't know specifics about every other type of dog.

Yeah Joe I see that now. Thanks. This has been more then helpful and I have you and a few others to thank for this.
---------- Post added at 10:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:10 PM ---------- And I will ask you again, why do you care? Frankly you don't you are just being a nag so go troll another thread. The dog is healthy and in a good home and that is all that matters. I was just looking for specifics as to the mix. You took it to a whole new level with more and more questions. All you had to do was say "No can't tell, when he is older then maybe" Some said that, you on the other hand made it a personal matter and turned it into a hate thread. Also maybe I care to know because I was interested in a type of pit or pit mix for a pet? They are a good loyal breed very playful and very loving. Why I care is my own concern, not yours. |
