As I attempted to pay my vet this afternoon, a schnauzer came rushing up to my pit, growling and snarling! My sweet boy just stood there. The man grabbed his UNLEASHED dog and said, "Oh you tough little dog, he wasn't doing anything to you." He put his dog on a down stay. That lasted another two seconds when the schnauzer charged us again. I couldn't hold it in and I said, "Sir, if that had been my pit bull charging your little schnauzer, you'd have been all over it!" I signed my vet bill and left. At the time, there were three pits in the office. They all say quietly and peacefully. I am still so annoyed. Several other patient owners agreed with me. Unreal.

I fking hate those dogs. my friend had one that was mean as hell and would attack people on a daily bases, me and that dog had a strong hatred towards each other. If that dog would have ran up to my bull terrier in that way, he would have taken his dog home in two pieces. I can't stand idiot owners who do shit like that with there dogs. Get a friggin leash because you NEVER know what someone elses dog is capable of doing. Once when I worked for Banfield inside Petsmart some old women had her dog on a retractable leash, some little fluffy dog, and this dog went up to the lead petsmart dog trainers austrailian cattle dog and nipped the dog, her dog in return 'nipped' it back but being the dog was so small it was slightly worse, the little dog was fine it just screamed out and made a scene and the lady was screaming at the trainer, the poor trainer didnt even see it because she was talking to someone at the time. I was outraged and asked her what she expects when she lets her aggressive little dog go where ever it wants?! I would have flat out told the owner of that POS shnazuer, to contain his dog or else. I really really really hate people like that. ugh that just made me mad reading it!

I would have booted it. Of course I took the Rhodie boy straight from the exam room to the car and then came back to pay the bill to avoid just that. ![]() ---------- Post added at 07:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:49 PM ---------- I own a Miniature Schnauzer and yes they are feisty! But I love them as a breed. I love the spunk! Plus they are so lovable with their family..... ![]() |

I owned a mini, actually had to rehome him because he was so severely spoiled until he came to us, he did not know how to interact with dogs, and we owned four. Got him when a family member passed.
They are so feisty! There's a reason the word 'terrier' came from 'terror'. But, when handled and bred right, they're awesome, it's a shame people are so stupid. I would have punted him... lol |

Ya know, I was thinking about this thread and it just pissed me off all over. I have had a few lil dogs and I used to like them. Then I started hearing stories like this and lost some of my like. Now I am back to liking them because of one thing THEY ARE DOGS NOT TREATED LIKE DOGS!
Yup, they aren't nasty lil ankle biters. They are poor creatures bred for jobs like hunting and rating and catching other furry vermin who get bought by idiots who never let them work or train or blow off steam and they get crazy because of it. So, I am feeling a bit sorry for the Schnauzer so desperate for something to do that he risked life and limb to try for a Pit Bull. |

I agree with the "treat the dog like it's a dog" thing. I have a schnauzer/poodle mix and he is like a glorified cat. Not because I have treated him that way but he just isn't a "real dog" lol hence the reason for me wanting another dog in the house. I wanted a dog that acts like a dog and not a cat but I love my Scruffy boy. He is always on a leash when we are in public and if he tried to attack another dog like that I would be horrified! he is grumpy with trina sometimes but only when provolked and he's defending himself.
I would not allow him to attack another dog like that and he would be on a leash at the vet. I can't believe that guy did that! The vet should have said something. |

Just ban idiots that don't control their dogs. I was picking Sasha up from boarding and this woman was picking her dog up from grooming and she didn't do the right thing by leashing her dog up by the way. She was a snauzer/poodle mix. And that dog was jumping and barking at everyone she came in contact with. She wasn't being aggressive but she was being overly friendly and this dog was obviously not trained to know any doggy manners. Sasha came out and as I was leashing her up she freaked Sasha out so bad that she hid in a corner and laid down submissively because the dog was just too much for her. That dog was too much for most dogs. So I paid as the woman who owned the snauzer/poodle mix just talked and talked about how wonderful her dog was. No one cared. Infact her dog ended up in a scuffle with a Standard Poodle. And as we were leaving her and her dog walked out, dog was still not leashed (Hello leash law) and the dog darted and almost got hit by a car coming up the drive to the facility. I say don't ban any breeds, just ban people who have no business owning a dog from owning a dog. |

I grew up with a mini schnauzer and she was an absolutely wonderful dog, but when i did obedience class with Roxy not too long ago there were 3 schnauzers in the class.. they were horrible! One of them tried to bite Roxy. I think the breed has changed or something because they don't even look the one I had.
