Okay so from what I understand its the law here to vaccinate against rabies every year.
Well I recently had a vet friend tell me that their office as well as several other offices in the area and the vaccine clinics are overvaccinating. From what I understand is there is a 1 year vaccine and a 3 year vaccine. Well he said that they are vaccinating yearly with the 3 year vaccine. And several other places are too. Well this has me a bit worried because vaccinations are coming up this month for us and I worry about what this could do to her in the long run. This will be her 3rd rabies vaccine. And if she has gotten the 3 year already twice that is a lot of vaccine in 3 years. Anyone know what the long term affects of overvaccination are? What kind of harm this could be doing for my dog. When I was growing up we took our dog in for a rabies shot every 3 years. Now its every year but I assumed it was an annual vaccine. Not the 3 year vaccine every year. I called my vet and they said that is what they do as well. Can anything be done about this? Or is this just how its done now? Thanks I know this is kind of health question but its kind of an issue question too so I posted it here. If it needs to be moved please put it where you see fit. |
