In most people, facial expressions give a fair clue, to a keen observer, of what they are thinking/feeling. But others can train themselves to hide their motivations, or are just born with the skill to lie.

I tried smiling when I didn't really feel like, for a while in my teenage years. Didn't improve how I felt, was just tiring, and probably looked obviously faked to others.
Emotional expression wouldn't be worth much if it could be effortlessly faked. It'd be like an easily counterfeited currency.

Well, counterfeit currency is everywhere. But it's worse than that, it is the real currency.

All you need do is believe your own press agent.
