Nuts contain protein, but not a complete protein. They are also rather high in carbs (for a low carb diet).

The highest protein "nut" (legume, actually) is peanuts... at 21g protein per CUP of shelled nuts. There also happens to be 12ng carb per cup, 18ng if you have dry roasted. If you're trying to do Atkins, nuts are not allowed until the second phase. That's why they aren't on the Induction foods list.

To compare, 1 cup roasted chicken breast has 43g of complete (all the essential amino acids) protein and ZERO carbs.
