black cat do you belive that a privately owned tv station have the right to not air a commercial it finds repulsive?
I don't know swedish law, but unless I'm very wrong then danish tv stations can't refuse to air commercials unless they are illegal - tobacco, child porn etc.

I have seen the one in question (danish news have showed it several times) and it isn't that bad.

The ad is one thing, but I find it way more disturbing to hear the chairman of TV4's sick excuses for not letting SD participate in the debates.

What a stupid ad. Given that it's a scandinavian country they probably overspend on the old people to begin with.

OK, I'll do the dirty work.
Yep, there are always a swede ready to do the dirty things Thank you for a decent answer

I understand you do this in Denmark, but I don't get how it works. Is the ballot a square meter or a roll like toilet paper? It's not really that bad - I think that the largest I have ever got was about one meter long and 30 cm across.

You can do that, or you can bring one from home. The major parties send out packages in the mail with ballots included. You can also take a blank ballot and write the name of your party on it. Or write a dirty word if you want to be a rebel. I'll bet that your dirty word vocabulary is pretty big

This is how it usually is for me when I vote: I go to the designated place, a school across the street in my case. Outside are members from several parties who you can talk to if you want. I proudly stride right by them shoving my hands in all of their faces to show I have already made up my mind as a responsible voter. Those pressure group are also allowed here, but I really can't remember meeting such. Maybe our politicians has more respect for the voters than yours

When I enter there is a small hallway with a table full of ballots. I find the ones marked GANJA PARTY LEGALIZE IT and pcik up three color-coded ballot papers (for national, regional, local elections) to bring into the main room with me. There might be a short line of regular people waiting, but I've never noticed anybody watching me.

I wait for a voting screen to free up, receive three envelopes, go behind the screen, put the ballots in the envelopes and lick them. I go to the nice old ladies, I mean functionaries, and show them my ID and voter's card. They cross me off the list and put my envelopes in the boxes. Done. Now is that so bad? Well, most of it is ok - the part where you have to pick up that GANJA ballot is a bit fishy. Here you identify yourself and are given a neutral ballot (or more if there are seval cases on vote) where you can put your X'es.

Only for parties

Yes. You are an evil person for licking the envelopes and not licking the "nice old ladies" who need a good licking far more than some humdrum paper envelope does.

Where's your sense of social responsibility? "Nice old ladies" need to get laid too you know.

I have been watching some SD-related stuff on YouTube and it's funny how much these guys resemble their Finnish buddies on all points. They too used to be whackos with black uniforms until they realized that stuff like that doesn't exactly cut it anymore and morphed into their current form.
They are certainly a party full of contradictions.

SD has the most immigrants on their election list

Sweden Democrats is the only party in Södertälje where immigrants are a majority on the ballot. One of them is Nader Helawi.

- SD is the only party that safeguards the nation of Sweden, he says.

SD:s list for municipality council contains eight candidates where five have immigrant background. One Finn and four from the Middle East, of which three are Christian Chaldeans.
...

But he also meets resistance.
- They say we are against immigrants, and teachers at Komvux [adult education] tell the students not to accept our magazine, says Nader Helawi.

SD is being branded as hostile to immigrants, and a lot of people might feel that it is odd that you as an immigrant are with them. Comment?

- They don't know what SD stands for. I am for SD because it is the only party that safeguards the nation. I have worked in other countries in the Middle East and been treated badly. Only in Sweden have I been treated as a complete human being. Here I felt secure. And that is why I want to safeguard the nation of Sweden, says Nader Helawi.

Another reason that he picked SD is the party's resistance to Islamic fundamentalism.
- I have many Muslim friends and they shall certainly have the right to practice their faith. But I don't think that mosques are appropriate in Sweden. And neither veils in work-places or schools, says Nader Helawi. http://lt.se/nyheter/1.810001-sd-har-flest-invandrare-pa-vallistan

On the other hand...

Africans have 'child rape gene': Sweden Democrat

Wahlberg occupies 26th place on the Sweden Democrats list for municipal elections in Landskrona in southern Sweden and he currently sits on the culture committee and election commission. The party claimed 11 seats in Landskrona municipality at the last election in 2006.

On his blog "Landskronabackspegel" (Literally: Landskrona rearview mirror) Wahlberg, a 76-year-old retiree and one of the party's more experienced members, published a post on the genetic characteristics of black Africans:

"For many thousands of years, the Negro could chill out in the heat, eat some bananas, rape some passing woman or child, fight with other negro males and eat them up, play the drums a little, run around a bit, catch an antelope, eat a few bananas, **** a bit, get drunk on fermented fruits or herbs, and so on. This has been going on for millennia without any evolutionary pressure in the form of environmental factors forcing the negro to develop in another direction."

Wahlberg told The Local on Friday that the quotes are all taken from the provocative Swedish political and media discussion forum Flashback, and are written "ironically".

Nevertheless, he declined to distance himself from the broad content of the post.

"You could say that some parts have some truth to them. But generally speaking it is written with irony," he said.

In a prior recent interview with the local Helsingborgs Dagblad (HD) daily, Wahlberg was more forthright over his personal views.

"I think that it was quite an accurate description. If we look at history, then humanity began in Africa once upon a time, and then there were some who emigrated to Europe and Asia. But at what level are they now? Not much has happened over these thousands of years," he told the newspaper.

Wahlberg's blog furthermore includes several recent posts critical of Islam and Muslims.

Despite the nature of his blog, Wahlberg told The Local late Friday morning that he has not received any internal criticism from the party hierarchy.

However, in the wake of the attention given to Wahlberg's blog by Sweden's mainstream media, he has since left the party.

I for one hope Sweden wakes up soon. It's getting more and more "Texas", as one say, there every day. I'm not sure I would be glad to support SD myself if I were a Swede, they have an....interesting past, but right now they are the only ones who give a damn about Sweden's challenges it seems. The rest of the parties are just holding over their ears and shouting "na-na, can't hear you" whenever an issue arises.

iam getting it wrong? i could of sworn you where the thread starter and the one who accused tv4s chairman for haveing sick excuses not letting SD participate. even tho SD just didnt make the cutoff rules that been in place for years on there tv debates.
Well, I compared with how it's done here and hadn't a full understanding of swedish way - fortunatedly Kitchum was kind enough to enlighthen me - despite that, I still consider the swedish way pretty sick/weird

how are tv4 trying to subdue SD povs? and every time you say that a SD jumps whit joy. keep spreading there lies. that right there is my entire point. cus if they where trying to subdue there politics id be outranged. but just looking at the facts that just simply isnt the case.

its sad that you cant expect journalist these days to do some simple fact check. Could you please translate this into something comprehensible ?

I find it disturbing that we're spending so many words talking about a party that might not even make it over the 4% barrier.

This poster was apparently featured in the Stockholm subway. It is the current finance minister. All it says is his name and the name of his party. Can somebody tell me what the fwck?

Is he courting the gay swing vote?

"Niggardly"? Never, ever heard the word.
Not surprising given that the word was supposedly an 11th or 12th century Norwegian word which entered English about that time. Language usage has changed so much in the last nine to eight hundred years but dictionaries all say it is 11th or 12th century Norwegian for misery or ungenerous.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/niggardly

The key thing is it appeared in English several hundred years prior to black slavery or calling Africans "niggers". Which is what people like Jessie Jackson tried to erroneously tie it too.

No, it's just that I get "Deutschland erwache" associations out of that particular phrase. I know it was accidental but you might want to avoid it in the future.

Btw, the picture is a group of Nazis holding a banner that says "Sweden wake up" ...standing around in a park at 5 am. You can't make this stuff up.
