It's been a practice since the 17 or 18 hundreds to predict global weather trends and resulting draughts or good harvests by monitoring the sun. Apparently some people got rich doing this (with investments, ect...)

Implications, welll, what about no or bad harvests in EU (just to keep it local) for several years ? To keep perspective, the Sporer minimum and Mauder together lasted almost 400 years, with a short break in between.
