btw - are you fed up with your employees or employers, or both?

I had a job once where I was moaned about for being a grim, intimidating meanie - but that was because I was working my arse off for the company while they were playing around like little children. I wasn't there to gain popularity, but to constantly do the impossible, day-in, day-out. I eventually left, without a job to go to, and subsequently found something else where I almost doubled my income and halved my workload.

And you're new here, I'd keep it down if I were you.

Now go away and stop thread jacking.

It just shows how ignorant your really are. Have you ever even left your state...or city for that matter? Or even watched an other channel other than FOX?

The more stern and unforgiving my bosses/foreman's have been, the more I desire to earn their respect. People who want a boss who laughs and jokes with them are human stains. They will be the first to go extinct if/when serious problems overcome civilisation.

Why don't you just quit if you don't like work?

I say this because I'm too busy to read your full post.

The approach that "I am important and trying to do my job while you are not and in my way" does tend to get you raises in pay and promoted. However, many folks who follow that path feel miserable and unappreciated in their work. That feeling seems to be a price one pays for being hard-driving and mission-focused at the expense of one's humanity. Changing jobs won't fix that unless you work in an environment where the business requires that focus or people will die (or along those lines). Switch to defense or police-style work to get positive reinforcement for the attitude.

OR switch the attitude to one that's a bit gentler. A lot of people enjoy their work at least in part for the relationships they develop there. When they feel appreciated, they do better work at a faster pace.

Up to you: live with the consequences, switch to a grimmer set of folks, or ease up on people.

See, you think I'm a jerk for not smiling all the time. Cort and LS think otherwise. Asher is middle man of what I can see and suggest I change a bit...and so on...

That's why.

If the majority here thinks I am wrong, then I must be. Well see in time.

Kind of like a survey Einstein. Here people dont care and answer what they think...some, like you, just troll and dont answer the OP, so they dont count.

Spec. Did he use it as an excuse to withhold a pay raise? Does he ultimately judge you in your paycheck on things other than the performance of your group?

He could say bad things about your style, but ultimately reward performance. If this is the case, then just follow what is being communicated to you through your paycheck.

I did get 3 raises in less than a year though. But I didn't get them from the owner (the one that says I should be more like Barney the dragon.)
