Time-Life does a lot of this too. I regularly get letters telling me I'm in the final whatever of their lottery. I just throw the letters away.

Don't feel bad,

I just placed an ad in a local newspaper in order to sell a carpet for 1100.00. I received a call from a lady who said she was hearing impared, she was using one of those TTY services. She asked me to email her all the particulars about the carpet. I did and the next day, I received an email stating she had sent me certified funds to purchase the carpet. She explained that she had sent additional monies to pay for the shipping costs and asked me to deposit the check (It was for 3900.00) then she wanted me to subtract my 1100.00 and wire the rest to someone in England who would arrange to pickup the carpet. The call I received from her was from Florida, the cashiers check was drawn on a bank in Wisconsin, and I was supposed to wire all but 1100.00 to England! I had a funny feeling! When I went to the bank to deposit the check, I asked the bank to call the bank in Wisconsin just to be sure...sure enough, it was a fraudulent check (an excellent forgery!) so we called the police and made a report. By the grace of God, I ended up being a complaintant instead of a victim! Police said it was all generated from Nigeria
