Heya, man! Welcome back We'd all been wondering where you'd gone off to, good to see that--despite the setbacks--you're doing okay.
When I studied in Spain I had Vodafone... it was decently cheap and stupidly simple. Pay as you go, recharge at basically any convenience store. I know I could use mine in other countries but it was obviously much more expensive... so I guess it just depends on whether or not you'll be staying in one place for long, or whether you want to spring for an international plan.
Have you considered adding international calling to your current cell plan? That's what we did last time we went to Europe and it didn't end up costing too much.
