Does Windows Funcionality include Windows Susceptibility (I don't think I spelled it correctly...)?

specialized applications have used software-hardware hybrid processing for a while; for the same reasono - lower power useage and less heat expendeture
you can safely run windows xp on an old 466 celeron w/ ~150 mb of ram and atleast 10 gig hd
it is also becoming mainstream knowledge that cpu clock speed isnt the only thing needed for a fast computer - where RAM ( and faster ram ) and video processors can make a bigger gain than just a faster core - back in the late 90s, clock speeds were increasing by ~20% every quarter
hopefully ill be running Linux by the time this awful piece of art is shoved down everyone's throat

On a related subject, Microsoft released a new update program called Microsoft Update - updates all programs, and not just the operating system ("Windows Update").
I haven't seen any big advertisement about this new program from Microsoft (I heard it from a friend).
Has anyone used this program, is it worth to get it?

I dunno about that...
Tiger's interface is very pretty.
Besides, it seems like Vista's interface is gonna resemble that of Mac OS, anyways.

It's too bad there are only so many choices out there as far as operation systems go; it's too bad most programs only work on windows; it's too bad most of us have to upgrade because there are only so few of choices out there...

From what I've read/heard of it, it'll have the stuff that Tiger has (by the time Vista comes out, I'm sure Mac OS 10.5 will have been released or will soon be released with more new stuff that Vista won't have).

This new version of windows supposedly has some security feature that will be hardwired into the new PCs (as in a chip on the mother board) to protect the PC from hackers and viruses.

I wonder why they name it Windows Vista? IMO I would have preferred Windows 2006 or something with a little more meaning than Vista.

The one thing I've heard is that supposedly the new OS is supposed to work optimally with distributed processing and centrino like chipsets (since that's the way of both future desktop and laptop design). The idea being that you move processing power to multiple processor which don't have to be as powerful (and thus generate less heat and consume less power, but can split up computing needs amongst themselves and drastically increase clocking speeds), while the centrino like chipsets allow you to move many of the function currently built into pentium 4 chips onto software applications. From what I've heard the results are very promissing. However from an application POV, the increase in processing speed is only really noticeable to people using graphic intensive software (mainly high-end games) and laptop users (because of the added battery life and heat reduction). It sounds like hogwash to me.

vulnerability to every virus, spyware and programed glitched out there - and a software architecture that doesnt appear to be geared toward anything but making and wasting money at the same time
