I would have thought the multiplication is done first, so 1x0, which is obviously zero. Then just add all the other ones which is about 16.

Again, it's one of those that should have brackets really but i'm sure is solvable without.

Edit: Yeah a sneaky 14.

14 for sure. The people who guessed 16 aren't dumb, they just mistakenly missed the one minus sign.

Its the catch out of people being taught wrong again. The answer is 0, as you work it out the direction you read (left to right) and a number times by 0 is 0.

Yeah - it you typed into a computer or calculator it would be zero.

I was going to get fooled! Good lesson in following the rules!

The answer is 14, order of operations and then left to right.

Excel, Windows Scientific Calc shows 14 the normal calculator outputs 0.

You only go left to right in case of equal operations (such as multiplications and divisions, or additions and subtractions).


The correct answer is 14.

I calculated the 1's few times and wondered why I don't get the same result as everybody else.
