Default Getting 3 wisdom teeth pulled.
Heading out shortly to have 3 of my wisdom's pulled. 1 of them is MIA, they are going to do a full Jaw xray to see if its hiding or growing in an odd direction. I'm guessing its just not there (praying).

But the 3 erupted wisdoms I have did not grow in correctly, they grew outwards towards the cheek wall at an angle but are not impacted. They've caused no problems in the past so I left them alone and just continued with life.

However, recently one of them within 6 months decided to rot out. Probably because of the way its against the cheek wall and I can't quite get a tooth brush on it well. A chunk of it just came off one day, I didn't even bite on anything hard. Thankfully no pain, and all of the roots are alive and well.

So I've decided that to save future dental bills for fillings/root canals that I'm just going to have them all pulled and save myself the future trouble of dealing with them. I should have done it long ago. Thankfully the too cracking off wasn't painful but that was enough of a warning to tell me to get rid of them.

I have elected NOT to be put under anesthesia. Its nearly as much as the tooth extractions itself. as long as he can numb me good then I will be able to deal with the procedure. It can't hurt worse than the pain that precedes a root canal.

I opted to go under as I couldn't bare to have all the yanking done while I was awake.

The only advice I'll give you is take it easy on what you eat after. I rushed it and ended up causing an infection

3 teeth, 10 minutes. Done.

Novacain administered about 2:00pm. Walked out the door $77 poorer at 2:27. Thank you insurance.

One wisdom actually just wasn't there. Never grew I guess. The did a full jaw x-ray.

I'm sorry I didn't do this sooner. I always dreaded the actual pulling but it was faster and easier than the root canal I had done.

80/20 coverage. I still have to pay 20% of the bill. Better than the several hundred it actually cost.

As long as they're not stupid (compacted, impacted, or w/ever), taking out wisdom teeth are no more serious than any other. Same thing happened with one of my wisdom teeth, one day it just randomly broke in half. It was alarming when it happened, but no pain. I left it for a bit as I didn't have insurance at the time, but then it started to get affected by heat / cold, so I opted to get it pulled. I went to the dentist for like 1/2, then went to work the same day. No big deal at all.

I'm glad I ate BEFORE I did this. Cause right now i'm slightly hungry.

Looks like the clots I can see are forming nicely. We shall see tomorrow morning when I wake up.

$77 is a deal! Had mine done about eight years ago and I spent like $800. I went through an oral surgeon and got gassed.

If I had gone with General Anesthesia it woudl have been a $490 charge.

2 of my teeth were fully erupted, even though they weren't straight, nor were they impacted. So that means it was an easier job. Only 1 was slightly covered by gum tissue, but he was able to "push" it out of the way to pull the tooth.

I can see one of the holes were a tooth was, its filled with the blood clot. I'm reading up on everything and am going to see the family dentist. He's been my dentist for 31 years now. Gonna ask him all about best ways to prevent "dry socket" where the gums don't heal over the socket correctly.

Haven't had anything to eat, and I won't till he tells me what i can eat. The oral surgeon was very good at his job. He was efficient, quick, and dead on. But his "bed side" manor and explanations for after-care and recovery sucked. I'll rely on the family dentist for that.

My last meal before having them pulled. Won't be able to eat this good for a while! BBQ grilled meatloaf with a double side of veggies from Sweet Baby Rays. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooo tasty.

Don't drink through a straw for a week, and avoid solid foods for a few days. Jello, yogurt, and mashed potatoes are the way to go. Try not to eat rice for awhile, as a grain can get embedded and cause an infection.

Try not to rinse for a few days either. You can let the water slosh inside your mouth, but don't build pressure differentials, or you can dislodge the clot.

I am probably going to have to get one of mine pulled soon as it has a huge cavity in the side. Both my bottom wisdom teeth are fairly susceptible to cavities, the top ones seems fine. My old dentist managed to save my other bottom wisdom tooth by drilling the **** out of it when it also had a huge cavity but he's not around anymore (He was 84.. Old school but good).
