Just released in SZ (China). New iPad clones run Android 2.2 / Windows 7 with "decent" hardware equal to iPad, supporting Flash 10.1 and HDMI interface.
8" Android 2.2 aPad - 1GHz Cortex A8 Processor - 512MB DDR2 10.1" Windows 7 ePad - 1.66GHz Atom N455 - 2GB DDR3 - 32GB SSD Any reviews, discussion on those? I have laid my money down and waiting for the courier to show up. Been burnt before and not holding my breath, but as an ebook reader and wifi surfer? |

Things is I remote to a Win 7 machine from my iPad and Windows 7 is not hugely touch/pad friendly. I'd only be interested in it if they completely revived the interface for touch screens. |

I have an iPhone but I hate the apps - they're all useless gimmicky pieces of junk. ALL OF THEM! (except a few pop cap games and such) |

What exactly are you looking for and did you enable the touch functionality on your win 7 machine? Windows XP touch was tacked on but Vista and especially multitouch 7 have been very nice in my experience. ![]() For example Windows Media Center is nice, but most of the plugins don't have touch support. If you're only using it for music it's a nice experience though. XBMC has no touch support, but there are plugins that give it touch support, also quite nice. The icons are big enough, internet explorer supports it (although you'll want IE9 and a compatible graphics card for smoothness) and then there's the always forgotten OneNote which is made for touch screen ![]() Sure there aren't a zillion stupid games that look flashy. But you'd be surprised how little of the iPad/etc is left when you remove all the games. People who say w7 isn't prepared for touch haven't used it themselves, or used it with crappy hardware, which is not hard to come by these days. Use it on a proper tablet for example and you'll love it. |

Windows 7 on that machine has not been setup for touch screen operation, and when it is (and sees the touchscreen), it is actually quite impressive. |
