Default Pirate Lego!
I used to collect pirate Lego as a kid. The one thing I always wanted but never got was the Pirate ship. Imagine my delight when, aged 30, I found out Lego were making an even bigger pirate ship again (I'm sure they're aiming this set at men who never got the pirate ship as a kid). I bought it and really enjoyed spending 5-6 hours making it all in one sitting. It looks awesome completed!

Now that you could even have on display

I practically had all things lego, i recently came across my old castle but most of it was missing, i only went looking for the other pieces of it after i came across the big plastic base of it. it had a dungeon built into the base. i'd love to find a new one and build it again just for the memories, its very hard to describe though as its not like all the other castles that start with a completely flat base. the base looked like rock (a tiny remote island just big enough for the castle) with the edges of the sea painted around the bottom on all sides

i think i had that castle, black knights castle or something, with a draw bridge and everything? I loved the castles and pirate stuff but never cared for the sci-fi legos

Nice one [thumbup]

I used to be a big big fan of lego, especially lego technic. Now it's all stashed away somewhere..

I always loved legos as a kid. I never had any due to them being too expensive, but my friend next door had some outer space legos that were awesome to build stuff with.

Cool ship. You should have assembled it inside a bottle!

Me and my kiddy are fans of Lego too, the Star Wars and Indy sets are as cute as hell, everytime he doubles up on a minifig I have it.

We visited Legoland (Windsor) last week for his birthday, some of the stuff there done in miniture was excellent.

Another big fan of lego here [thumbup] but too bad its really really expensive now over here compared to when I was young . A pirate ship like that could easily cost around RM700-800 (200+ usd) or more [no]

I thought this as well, but it really isn't. The cost has risen with inflation but a massive lego model still costs roughly the same as it did 20 years ago.

For example, in 1990 I was given the Lego Test Car for my birthday. It cost about £40 at the time.

An equivalent today looks like this:

and costs about £100.

Give or take a tenner it's really just an inflationary rise.

No it didnt have a drawbridge

the base was almost the exact same as:

Only it was all grey with rocks and a blue sea strip all around the bottom. in the middle of the base there was a large hole which you build a dungeon opening on top of it. it was definitely an imperial castle. i just cant seem to find it anywhere

I looked through this database but couldnt find anything:

EDIT: Oh wait i just found it!!

Hey cool, those were some of my first Lego sets! [thumbup]

I actually have the first one in the attic. I wanted an older one, of the more regular knights, as the one you're showing belonged to the dragon knights. The wizard and dragon didn't really appeal to me, I preferred another set. I guess I was a year too late.

The second one, of the pirate dudes, I think a friend of mine had that one. I have the even bigger set consisting of two base plates. [thumbup]

Almost makes me want to play with it again.

It's nice to see when I might have gotten these things... I have this ship somewhere upstairs, I must've been four or five when I got it (released 1989)! I'm gonna love going through these archives!
