http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/sou...a/10130195.stm

Pakistan has blocked the popular video sharing website YouTube because of its "growing sacrilegious content" Here is the offending facebook group

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Everyb...21369914543425

I can see this exploding in fits of hatred and violence oh dear =( Its so pathetic, some of the pictures on the group are pretty funny. Others are disgusting.

So the way to deal with someone who feels they've been insulted (rightly or wrongly) is to insult them further. I see.

I think it's ridiculous the way extremist Muslims have acted to the Denmark cartoon and ect.... even still, I think it's really low class to go out of one's way to offend someone's religion. (especially well-meaning moderates, whom many Muslims are)

Yes. It's called tolerance. Ever heard?

yes and being tollerant also means respecting those who don't think the same way as you do.

The way to make people more tolerant is not by being intolerant yourself.

I don't understand why people get offended when someone makes fun of their prophet/religion...

Isn't your god/prophet so great to not be bothered by small/petty insults? Doesn't your god want you to worship him and be a good person? Not a violent person that tries to spread or defend your religion/prohpet/god?

To me I would imagine that gods/prophets have better things to worry about someone making a picture/cartoon of them. Why not just dismiss the people doing the insults be knowing they will be judged?

I thought the point was to get into heaven by doing good... How does violently attacking someone or threatening someone achieve this?

Spill someones blood and you are a murderer. Spill someones blood because they insulted your mother and you are still a murderer. Spill someones blood because they insulted your god/prophet still makes you a murderer too.

What do you think god would respect more?
A) Defend him by threatening or beating or even killing someone who offended him?
B) Defend him by showing the ways of your religion, kindness, or just leave them alone if they are pricks with prejudice views towards your religion?

Even if you don't convince or change the view of the person insulting your belief/god... It doesnt mean you failed and god will be angry. You tried and that is good enough. You didnt resort to violence. You win. The person insulting has lost.

I've heard this argument before and it's a logical fallacy.

The onus here is not on being insulted, but on threatening and acting on threats in response to something a religious group finds offensive.

This group is a demonstration in support of one's right to expression, and a display of defiance. It's not intended to offend, but rather to assert the rights of those who are not Muslim.

If you say: "well, it's only prudent not to insult them since they will kill me for my insult", it's not a display of tolerance, but one of cowardice. Where does it stop. When they say your wife's cleavage is insulting, are you going to make her wear a burka? When they say that your laws regarding buying a 13 year-old and forcing her to have sex are insulting, will you agree that they should do it at will?

The point is that there is no aspect of religion that should supercede civil law, when it concerns people other than the members of that religion.

Trust me, when I was in Jerusalem, and the orthodox threw dishes at our girls because their skirts were too short, I was equally as angry. That being said, I'm not really afraid of any Hassid decapitating me if I draw Moses eating a ham sandwich while taking it up the ass, on a Yom Kippur Shabbos. (Yes, there are one or two ultra-orthodox neighborhoods in Israel where this might be dangerous. But their own people look at them with disgust, and at least they confine their activities to within earshot of their own homes).

Well, soon your wife walks in burkha because seeing a face of a woman offends somebody. Don't you see how your rights are taken away?

this has nothing to do with free speech rights or the gov. taking away rights. (No one here is claiming it ought to be illegal) It's about deliberately going out an offending an entire religion because you don't like the way extremists interpret it. I'm not for banning free speech (or pictures of the prophet) I'm just saying it's kinda low class to go out of your way to mock and offend someone's religion.

I can understand the politcal statement being made, even still, i'm not that comfortable with it. One can condemn jihadists without mocking and offending millions of Muslims.

I find it funny as hell how muslims want the world to revolve around them; who cares what everyone else wants to do as long as noone offends thy muslim.

Islam needs to die, or the minority need to crawl back in their 1000 AD times.

I think your religion is stupid.

They hide pedophiles and are helping to spread AIDs.

like I said, low class. it's not suprising that the person with the least class and decorum on this forum took the bait.

also, people like yourself who lash out and are disrespectful at every opportunity do so because they don't respect themselves.
