I have an account with Square-Enix and play final fantasy XI every now and then. I quit from back in December up till the end of april and decided to play some more. I reactivated the account, and when I got billed, on my statement were 3 charges to square-enix, and there should have been only one. So i called them thinking there was some mistake, and they tell me someone used my card to create additional accounts with 16 content id's (characters). So then tell me go cancel the card and tell the bank to dispute the charges to get a refund. That night, I noticed I had been charged for blizzard entertainment, i'm assuming world of warcraft accounts, and some other game by mythic entertainment. Anyway, I got the card canceled, and was refunded. But I'm still trying to figure out how my card was stolen. They tell me if they hacked my account, they can only see the last for digits of the card, so they say it wasn't stolen that way. Whats strange is it happened right when i reactivated the account in April, those 2 other squre-enix charges appeared along with the blizzard ones. I didn't even reenter the card, it was stored in my account, i just reactivated it. So what would be some possibilities how it was stolen and why they just used it for game services, no other stuff. I didn't have any viruses or spyware, i checked for that stuff and I keep my computer clean, i don't buy gill or anything like that either. I don't go to dangerous sites either or enter my information into untrustworthy stuff. Only thing I can think of is I had port 3389 open on my firewall for a few days to remote desktop to my PC for a presentation at college. Would that be a possibility or probably not?
