Jesus christ I need someone to sort this problem, I have a rapidshare premium account, but when I try to download things, It'll go for awhile, maxs out my connection speed, but then suddenly itll just ****ing die, speed will drop to 0 and then if i try to go on any webpages they'll just time out (msn still works fine though) - itll stay like this for a few minutes before my internet will start working properly again.

so what the HELL is going on?

Your router could be spazzing out.

Knives are used heavily for stabbing people [yes]

It does sound like either your router has too many connections and is dropping or your ISP is meddling with it.

Rapidshare is a website not a torrent client.

If you are maxxing out your connection speed (especially if its multiple files) - then the chances are that your router is have buffer issues and spazzing out.

rapidshare isn't a torrent. It's a porn host....well, not exactly, but it seems like that's it's primary client base. It would seem like either Comcast is messing with rapidshare downloads or your router is mucking up like chrisinthesun said.

cypher, you may just want to use a download manager and cap your download speed accordingly (when downloading from rapidshare), that way you can still surf other webpages. I bet it's the router to be honest.

how could rapidshare be at fault for his web browsing capabilities to go down? that doesn't make any sense.

They could have internal network issues or storage issues losing connectivity to files. not every company runs on invincible hardware you know.

If he can download from another source or multiple sources ok, then it has be something wrong between him and rapidshare or rapidshare themselves.

do you do this on purpose? it seems like it[rolleyes] My point was abundantly clear yet somehow you completely steered clear and changed the topic. I'm well aware it could theoretically be rapidshare, but based on what he said, it makes absolutely no sense to be on their end, which was my point! He said he loses connectivity to the internet altogether. I said that in my last post. Further, the other people posting in this thread seemed to be operating under the same logic. Then you come in (probably without carefully reading anything) and try to make everyone look stupid.

You're a sophist. Did you know that? It's shameful.[rolleyes] A normal, intellectually honest person would have said...."oh, my bad. I didn't see the part about where he loses connectivity to other sites." Instead, you try to change the argument and make a point that was never in contention. Yeah, thanks genuis....we didn't know websites have problems from time to time.

Well I'm sorry, I have now re-read the OP. My mistake. The reasoning in my posts were based on the thought he said everything else worked fine. I was thinking everyone was talking mad when they said router spazing and stuff.

No need for the the abuse. When I made that post I'm pretty sure I was at work dealing with other IT issues. :P

relax, jeez.
