I remember this girl I used to know; her mum was so overweight that she got herself a handicap sticker for her car. It was not a medical condition either, it was the lifestyle she chose. I remember saying to myself that disabled spots for "conditions" like that should be further away from the entrances to encourage exercise!

my wife has a friend who shes known since nursery thats in her early 30's , she has disability living allowance for life so she never has to reapply for it, she has 2 kids and recieves around 20k a year from the goverment.
she has a disability sticker and a freebus pass for life to go with her DLA.

she claims to have epilepsy and thats why she is on DLA but my wife knows for a fact theres nothing wrong with her, even though she doesnt pay rent and gets almost 2k a month from the goverment she is still always moaning that she has no money lol.

i swear some people should be killed at birth

Default Self Checkout Lanes
Does anyone else get annoyed by the people who bring an entire cart full of groceries to the self checkout lanes? I'm talking the ones that have enough room to set an armful of items (should be 12 items or less), not the conveyor belt ones that are actually meant for cartloads.

Today I was getting some milk and fruit... and there's this woman who can barely even fit all her groceries in her cart using the self checkout. Is this normal, or is it just a redneck thing? Her cart was damn near blocking another one of the checkouts as well.

The self checkout lanes should be for the people who are just buying a few items. There's no reason people should be bringing overflowing carts to those lanes and blocking them from the people who are just doing a little in and out shopping. If you've got that much crap take your arse over to a real lane, where someone who KNOWS HOW TO SCAN GROCERIES AND WEIGH PRODUCE can get you checked out. She was there checking out when I walked into the store, and she was there checking out when I left. There were about 3 employees sorta hanging around the area, and I think they were trying to get up the courage to tell the redneck woman she needs to use the normal lanes next time she wants to buy groceries.

Oh, and let's not forget the people who take cartloads of groceries to automotive. What the hell is that crap. I got my tires done yesterday, because walmart is like the only tire shop in town, and I saw a guy picking up his car and he had them scan his entire grocery cart and checked out there. If he had been doing that at the time I was trying to pay for my car I'd have been tempted to run him over.

And then we have the lazy bastards who can't take the time to put away their grocery cart, and when a gust of wind comes it flies off and crashes into someone's car. Or in my case, it almost crashes into a person. Sometimes I wish I was a superhero. My special power would be the ability to find the people who don't put their carts away, take full cartloads to the self checkout, spit their gum on the street, throw things out of their car window, or litterers in general... and administer a massive beatdown.

TL;DR Version: People suck and they're lazy.

I usually use the self checkout if I have less than a grocery basket of groceries, but if I have lots of fruit/veg or oversized items I will go to the regular checkout. I agree that self checkout should be reserved for people with small amounts of groceries.

My girlfriend counts out loud when they are sliding stuff over the box. She gets louder and louder until they ackowledge what shes counting for.
Damn near got me in a fight at Walmart once. Two dudes told me "I better control my woman"

[rofl] Sounds like a good lady you have there I don't mind when people are 1 or 2 items over on the express, but it pisses me off when they knowingly are like 10+ over. [cursing]

I hate it when some assh0le comes up behind me real close with there crap before I'm done scanning my groceries. Stupid people don't realize you should give a person his proper space. I just want to turn around and ask them wtf their problem is? But I don't because if we get into a fight in the check out line isn't such a good idea since there is always off duty cops doing security in the grocery stores I go to. Every time you go to the grocery store around here it's an adventure. It is also the same with Wal-marts.

Just make sure you acknowledge all the security cameras inside the store if they ever try something in the parking lot. Good for her and you!

maybe we should direct our aggression towards the store that is too cheap to fill the check outs with employees during busier times. and no i don't ever use the self checkout, but hate it when all the lines are full and only 3/10 checkouts are going.

groceries at auto would be dumb if he wasnt picking up his car, but i dont really see a problem with one bill if the counter person checking him out allowed it.

as for the carts, don't they require you to put a dollar in them? it sure helps for that here. lol.

The only store I know of that has coin-dispensed carts are at Aldi's stores, and they're only a quarter. See here in the US, even though we've got those new dollar coins, nobody ever uses them lol.

Are those even manufactured anymore?

I'd rather use a $2 bill.

lol, i'm sure though, that all of us at one time or another have left a cart rather than cross a large lot to take it back. i know i'm guilty. but when i put a dollar in it, i go and collect it. :P

Yep, that's annoying as hell.

About as bad as a single person going through the drive through at a fast food restaurant and ordering enough food to take back to probably 5+ people. Get's bad around here during the lunch rush hour.

At my grocery store (HEB) self checkout lines are limited to 20 items or less. Unfortunately people either don't notice the signs or do not care. The same applies to 10 item or less checkout lines; I regularly see people with carts filled above the brim with product entering the express lines.

Fortunately I work back in the produce department, but I see my fair share of idiocy.
Every day I find several sample cups and half eaten watermelon samples shoved into our fresh lettuce display...even though we have six...count them SIX trash cans spread throughout the department.
The sad thing is, I've seen the people doing it, and it isn't children...it's adults.

And as for how people drive around the parking lot like lunatics, completely oblivious to the teenage boys pushing carts in 100+ weather...
..fortunately its usually the cart that gets hit..not the employee, although we get about one "incident" per month.

I can't say I've seen anyone take loads of stuff though the self service yet. Leaving trolleys in the car park annoys me though, and people who park across two bays because they're too lazy to correct it, and those people who park in the disbaled parking because, presumably, they think they're so superior to the rest of us that they shouldn't have to walk those extra few metres.

One thing that absolutely drives me crazy is when people park their car in a handicapped spot, put up their handicapped tag, and proceed to walk briskly into the store.
Obviously you can't know every person's ailment just by looking, but I think the majority have no need for it whatsover.
