Default Does drinking make you depressed?
I think im done with drinking. I had not had hardly anything to drink in the past six months. With the exception of a few beers here and there. But never enough to get drunk. I was feeling good about things to. And with the exception of a few days when work got me irritated I had been very up beat and happy.

But I got tipsy over the 4th and then went downtown and got drunk last night. Now im in this depressed, pissy mood. Where I just feel lost and want to analyze every thing about my life and it makes me depressed. Even though I know my life is a great and im doing very well and I have no real reason to be like this. I used to be a very happy drunk, but now I find myself (while still happy for the most part) geting pissed off at the slightest little things.

I don't know, I hope this makes sense to some of you. Im sure I will still have a beer occationally. But I just got to stop getting $h!tfaced. Im 27 years old now, maybe my body just can't handle it like it used to. [no]

Oh well, Rant off.

there's probably something deep deep down in the back of your mind that's just beginning to surface after years and years of being a bottle jobby.

I have found that if I am upset over anything.... (family/health/money/relationship) then I get more depressed when I drink. But if nothings wrong or i'm happy.. then alcohol hits the right spot! And with friends or at a social event/lounge... I get even happier. Good Beer/Ale/Mead makes me one happy mofo. Wine is nice too but sometimes gets me into philosophy/politics/then depression and sleepy... But good beer/ale/mead makes me a big time comedian. Liquor... Can not stand the stuff unless it is very fine/aged Scotch or just any Cognac... Henessy or Remmy I love them both. 1738 is my fav... I had 3 flasks worth of it on an empty stomach at a wizards game.. was the most fun experience I ever had trying to get to the restraunt then to my house. (via Metro Rail)

I drink beer/ale/mead if I wanna enjoy a dinner/snacks/play pool and get buzzed... I drink Cognac if I wannna see things spin and laugh it off.

There is a reason it's called a depressant. It's the most popular one in fact.

From the amount you're drinking I'd be surprised if alcohol was to blame for the mood.
Drinking ridiculous amounts regularly most certainly drags you down the toilet.

You're approaching 30... that gets to some chaps

Haven't touched alcohol in months!

That said, I can actually live without it. Not much of a drinker anyway. Don't know how all these uni students are like "omg! got absolutely ****** last night!!!". As if it's something to be proud of.

I've had my share of that sort of stuff, but I just don't find it exciting to get absolutely **** faced anymoe. Once every blue moon but I have other things to spend my money on than getting **** faced.

Same here pretty much. I enjoy drinking, but I like to try imported beers or fancy wines and other stuff like that. I would much rather enjoy one good beer than get loaded on piss water. [thumbdown]

I could count the number of times I was smashed on one hand. Lucky for me I don't seem to get hangovers. A nice buzz is all I need to add to the night.

I'd like to point out that drinking is a lot more fun when you buy the good stuff... As in ales/beers/meads with great body and flavor. Also learning how to pair beer/ale/mead with food is very important IMO. Once you have the good quality stuff it becomes more about enjoying the night than trying to get drunk for the hell of it. I just started brewing my own ale. 2 more weeks and I can bottle it! Going to be around 125ish bottles. It's a belgian strong golden ale with my own twist to the recipe! I added 1.5L of wild honey (not too strong of a fragrance) and that bumped the alc content to 8.4-8.5%. Not bad! Can not wait to try it!
The honey I added will do little (can still taste a little but not sweet) to the flavor but it will definitely give that light honey smell which i enjoy in my ale.
