Just got through watching the movie. All I can say is that I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt the movie was severely lacking.
The plot? wtf? Characters? forgettable. The movie had no soul to it. That's all I can say. [thumbdown] And this is coming from a person who really wanted the movie to be good. [no] |

I'd like to go on record and say the nuclear explosion was probably the finest one ever put to film since... probably Terminator 2.
Unfortunately it had no place being in the film. I'm pretty sure that ILM must have created that in their spare time one lazy week and put it on their 'cool shelf', that is until Lucas and Spielberg saw it and thought "Hmmmm....how can we shoehorn that into our retirement fund....I mean, film". |

Besides, yes the other things are more believable in those movies because they were well done. Not to mention, its part of the immersion, and finding a religious artifact that actually works is way better than stupid aliens. |

I saw the movie and have to echo what others are saying here, although I personally thought it was better than Temple of Doom.
Spoilers You could tell it was another one of those movies where they knew where they wanted to end up, but didn't quite know how to get there. The biggest problems for me were the whole dead aliens coming back to life when the missing skull was replaced. It wasn't really explained why that happens. And of course the Russian women dieing at the end when she wants all the knowledge in the universe. Now if it was a bit like Stargate where the aliens are evil and actually enslaved humanity, then when they wake up, they want to kill the humans, that would make more sense. I guess we are supposed to believe the aliens saw she wanted the knowledge for evil and so killed her. But then why offer the gift in the first place. But having said that, the take off scene at the end was probably the best one I have ever seen in a movie. |

the take off scene at the end was probably the best one I have ever seen in a movie. Im sure this is what the guys in the 50s-60s wanted the UFOs to look like but obviously never had the technology to show it. |

Oh look Cleeve it dropped to a 7.7 on imdb [rolleyes] Like I said it will continue to drop. And for the record, I gave it a solid 8/10 on IMDB. I understand it isn't a perfect movie, BUT I also understand that neither were any of the old ones. I think it will end up dropping to somewhere between a 7.5 and 8.0, but for it to be as "TERRIBLY BAD" as you make it out to be it would have to drop below a 6, which AINT gonna happen, not even close. |

Well I didn't want to spoil it for anyone but the reason it sucks: The 'Crystal Skull' was nothing as i imagined it, just like a big piece of tacky plastic. It was also 'magnetic' to what it felt like, when it felt like it - common, have some consistancy in your film! Also that rocket sled thing in area 51 must be related to the experiments that John Stapp did in the 50's where he was put under 46g's, I dont think Indy, without being strapped down would have been able to jump around after that. |

Are you just not reading my posts? I believe I'M the one who said it would drop: "Looks like you brought a knife..." *Dramatic Zoom Out* "...to a gun fight." [rofl] It's almost as if the movie was written by a 5th grader. |

Btw, izzit juz me or theres no "booby-traps" in this movie?... or am i missing something there.. ![]() And yeah.. quite a letdown for me too... compared to the previous movies as i just watched all of them few weeks ago. And the only nice touch of the movie its showed the "Lost Ark" at the beginning of the movie.. heh ![]() Cheers [rolleyes] |

I admit, that I did enjoy it. I don't think the Alien idea is that cheesy (especially if you look at real archaeology, and see that indeed "Aliens" may have been around alot longer than just 1947). Sure, parts could have been better, and some things were a bit off. But on the whole, my whole family did enjoy it.

It's not even the plot, or the story, or the acting of the cast. It's the way it was handled. There were so many cheesy moments in Skull that it felt entirely out of place from the other movies. The main argument of Indy 4 is not that the movie had an absurd plot (even though that may be), it's the fact that the script felt like it was written by a 10 year old, and that the over-the-top situations Indy found himself in were so cheesy and poorly handled that it's almost as if the movie was designed for kids. |
