Depends on the hosting. Usually you can just create a page such as the following:

Code:
Code
  	 	Coming Soon

And upload it as a file named index.html

Just make a text document and save it somewhere as "index.html". Then SCP into your website using the name and password you set up and place this index.html file in the public_html folder.

A free windows SCP client is WinSCP

For example for my site, I SCPed into "www.zugwalt.com" and uploaded a one-line text file that you see there now.

PS there may be other ways to do this but this is at least one I know that works!

EDIT: oops didn't see you wanted an image. I guess just google around for "html tutorial" and find one that you like. However what Thesh posted is what you need!

http://www.w3schools.com/html/default.asp

And after that

http://www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp

Then I recommend

http://www.w3schools.com/js/default.asp

Once you get to that point, it isn't too far of a stretch to go for

http://www.w3schools.com/php/default.asp

Once you are there it is time for some

http://www.w3schools.com/sql/default.asp

Hmm i´m kinda lost now,..
Yesterday everything was working fine, I made a image uploaded it, and created a simple html which worked and displayed the image when clicking www.golemfrost.com
Then all of a sudden the site was down (i could still enter my part of it, just the above url was dead), I contacted the service and they fixed it.
But, now for some strange reason the same html + pic combo won´t work ??
In the reply email i got this

Which i believe they´ve already done ??
Or ?
Have u got the email form hostingrails yet? I had the same problem, and then recieded the email from them, with all the information i needed. I have now cancled my account with Dreamhost, and been given account details for HostingRails....

When using their FTP, put the site insdie the HTML PUBLIC folder, or it wont be displayed...

All info can be found on the first page, a 5 step program

How long does it take to get the hosting information? I signed up about 4 hours ago; is this long of a wait normal (from HostingRails, the dream one is already up and good..)?
