Drinking lots of water won't do that to you
You can die from overdrinking water. Ask that dead frat initiation guy... can't remember where did I see it though...

People need to be responsible for their own actions. Our world is going to hell because everyone wants to blame someone else for their problems/situation, etc... No one wants to take personal responsibility for anything anymore.
If you enter an organised competition like that you'd expect all relevant precautions to be taken and you'd expect it to be "safe".

It wasnt her fault, she participated in a competition where she was not informed of any possible dangers of the overconsumption of water (which is not common knowledge to most people).
The radio station was obviously well known, and hence she had the right to believe that they wouldnt allow anything that was potentially life threatening to even a person with perfect health.

This is hardly a situation of blame like you suggest, the radio station did NOT follow any medical advice, the fact that they allowed such a competition suggests they didnt know the dangers either.
So tell me...who is the real stupid person here ?

Darwin Award winner if I've ever seen one. I don't feel bad, she was obviously too stupid to live.
Such compassion. There's probably a few ways to die that you're not aware of, does that mean you deserve to die in some competition that involves it?

It would be nice to see a bit of compassion for the poor womans family from some people. Not everyone knows that too much water can kill you, and really it's the fault of the radio station for not consulting medical professionals before they went ahead with the contest.

I bet less people know than do know. I told my wife about this story and she looked at me weird and said how can you die from drinking to much water?

Time to start put warning labels on water!

Well imo the contestants & radio station have all the brains of a decapitated hedgehog.

BUT having said that I really feel for the womans family, especially her husband and 3 children. It must be really hard on them, considering she did it for her kids. Wanting to give her children something, she ended up taking something more important away.

Would your grandmother know that she could die from that?

I agree.

h4x0r... man that's just not cool.

Every day people unknowingly participate in dangerous ordeals, but that does not mean they deserve to die... and with a popular competition like this you would have thought the hosts would've at least researched the consequences or the participants would've be advised of possible dangers.

The mother was doing it for her kids who wanted a Wii, and whether or not she was aware of the dangers is irrelevant, she did NOT dersrve to die. I am sure if she knew her life was at stake she would not have done it.

I would sacrifice a lot of things, perhaps even my own life for those who I love, whether it was intentional or not... and to walk the tightrope with such an incentive is not a act that deserves to be frowned upon.

You should be careful before you hand out judgements, otherwise you might just slip away from this world and nobody will miss you. You might think you are high and mighty but no matter what you say I couldn't really care less becuase you obviously are void of any humanity worthy of slavaging for the sake of a constructive argument on the topic.

Good luck to you.
