Some of you have probably heard of this one. What a truly stupid idea for a competition.

Yeah it is stupid. But there's also other competitions out there ie: you have to touch the car the longest (without going to washroom)..

Man, people are stupid. Drinking lots of water? Don't forget to replace your electrolytes: sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, chloride, etc. All that water dilutes the electrolytes in your blood and causes a condition called hyponatremia.

You can die from that.

Drinking lots of water won't do that to you, but if you retain the water it will.

You would have to drink a ridiculous amount of water to 'drown' yourself. We're talking like hundreds and hundreds of ounces in a very short period of time.

Worst. Competition. Ever.

Did no one at the station realise that drinking excessive amounts of water will kill you? Actually, its radio, I sincerely doubt they realise drinking bleach would kill you.

It can, and does. It's got nothing to do with "retaining water". There's just a simple limit to how much water your body can handle, and a competition to drink as much water as you can (especially without urinating) has a reasonable chance of somebody finding that limit.

Water? you mean that stuff in the toilets?

The plants crave electrolytes.

Yes, I believe that's what this thread is about.
Aye, I don't see how people couldn't see that.

Darwin Award winner if I've ever seen one. I don't feel bad, she was obviously too stupid to live.

I see that competition, and raise you the "sitting on a block of dry ice" competition.

Can you guess what happened?.....[rolleyes]

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/2691229.stm

and by the way, from the looks of the photo of the woman in question - you'd think the block of dry ice had smacked her in the face

The radio station did it without any medical consultation or medical staff on scene. They deserve to be sued into the next millennium.

The only thing I feel bad for is that she didn't do this stunt before she had kids.

People need to be responsible for their own actions. Our world is going to hell because everyone wants to blame someone else for their problems/situation, etc... No one wants to take personal responsibility for anything anymore.
