The Best Buy geak squad is a real joke. I went over to BB a few months ago and asked one of them if they still had a seagate SATA 2 250gb drive in stock, the dude looked at me and asked WTH is a SATA 2 drive. Right...

I personally wouldnt want to get paid 10 dollars a hour to work on spyware infested crap computers. I would need at least triple the amount of pay.

god i really need this job.
I work at Geek Squad City in Kentucky (just opened) as a Super Senior CIA. Take the test, don't worry about it too much, I know people that score as low as 200 and get jobs. The test just goes over basic computer know-how. Go for the CIA position if you can. They start at $12.50/hr here. Super Senior is fairly easy to get to and they pay $18/hr plus all the O/T you can get. The actual job is very easy and fun. Are you going to be working at a stand-alone Geek Squad or at a Best Buy store?

Remember that they will ask you what you would do if you suspected somebody stealing... say that you wouldn't tolerate it at all and would tell a manager immediately.

I currently have a full-time I.T. job, but I am seriously thinking about working at Geeksquad only on the weekends to see what it is like and what their procedures are. Is this possible? Do we get any discounts? how much are the discounts???

Aside from taking the assessment test, does the job require the A+ certification?

Nope! All you need is 5 fingers, 5 toes and the ability to walk in a straight line.

when i was working for comcast as a comm tech I went to a BB during there hiring for the holidays..

The manager there told me he'd hire me on the spot for Geek Squad after an interview. But they couldn't give me the hrs I needed.. since I already had a fulltime job.

Don't forget that you also need to know how to pirate software. :P

Where I live the geeksquad is full of a bunch of kids that don't know anything. Their stupidity never ceases to amaze me. I wouldn't let one of them near any of my family member's PCs. I would drive a couple hours to fix the thing myself than let one of those morons touch it.

One of our users just brought his personal laptop to me today. He said he went to Best Buy and had the Geek Squad install some new ram for him. When he got home his laptop wouldn't even post. I told him his first mistake was taking it to Best Buy but I would look at it when I had some time.

I opened up the ram cover and there was his new ram...unseated. The tech just put the ram in and didn't bother seating them. The weird thing is that both sticks were this way when he was only supposed to install 1 new stick.

*laughs*
