The bit where they built the Reliant Robin Space Shuttle was far better... it was so completely outrageous thing to even contemplate, let alone build and launch...
IIRC, that was a 'Bond Bug', a sort of early seventies 'sports' version.
It was a magnificent effort and such as shame when it didn't separate - definitely one of THE highlights even with that SNAFU.

I remember watching that episode and immediately jumping on my computer chair to try and find out if that was the end of top gear. What a scare that was and what a relief when the next day they confirmed on the website that they'd be back[surrender]

Just watching now... got the ole' tingles up the back of my neck...

Glad that "most" people on here have the appreciation of this program for the last few years, there have been some classic moments on TG over the years, if you think there hasn't then a brain stem or something is missing... and you should be watching Friends I think.

I even remember my Mum watching this, they were around at the time and she even said that was nice... not sure if she meant the car, the music or the way it was filmed. I'm hoping it was all of these!

That Aston sounds amazing! [thumbsup]

That shows a total lack of any knowledge of the show.
I've watched more episodes than I'd care to admit, although in my defense, only when nothing else was on. The entire appeal of the show comes down to the hosts, who are doofuses, but charismatic ones. How this dreadful crap ever amassed such a large audience defies explanation.

Ironically, British television is the one part of your culture that's worth a damn, and you worship Top Gear of all ****ing shows.

He would be embarrassed to even have a TV in his place.

I would. Houses should be machines for living, and I couldn't have one intruding into my private space.

Intruding? Hmm... I fail to understand how they "intrude", let alone more than say a computer would but to each their own.

For me, a lazy Sunday and a movie (or lighthearted episode of Top Gear) on the big screen that is only 1" deep (to ensure minimal "intrusion") and a craft beer, is fantastic.

Nevermind their aesthetic intrusion, plasma screens/projectors tend to dominate living rooms at the expense of everything else. I prefer to keep that space devoted strictly to hanging and drinking with roommates, board games, poker nights, jam sessions, etc. If I want to experience a movie, I'll go to Film Forum or IFC.

Also, you should play more indie games.

Well everyone has different priorities.

While I have to large displays in the living room and it is setup for optimized viewing and listening, it is also setup for kicking back and catching up with people on the big U shaped couch. I will have people over frequently and not even turn on a display. We will BBQ, listen to music whether it be digital or vinyl, etc. The beauty of properly arranged spaces is that they can be multi-purposed.

Latest ones I have played are Braid, Limbo, and Machinarium, if you have more recommendations, send them my way.

They do that if you use them that way.

I don't believe you have friends. Paying hookers for strip poker is not my idea of a friend. And there's no reason why you couldn't even get an antique cabinet to hide away from your pompous guests should they be as stuck up as you.

You always argue Britons are sometimes stuck in thinking they're still in the nineteenth century but fail to see your own reflection in the mirror? Well, good thing about the British is we never got our country bankrupt by a Scottish murderer.

From what I've read, the UK is in no state to hassle the US about the affect of religious beliefs on the actions of the state - re the influence of the Eastern religions, and social practices, on policies.

Back on topic... That episode of Top Gear isn't that old really. And that particular feature was supposed to make your hair stand on end. The script, music etc. Something like that could appear this series and not surprise me. I think they do pretty well to come up with the ideas they do, after 10 years.

Ah, I was confused by your reference to the show being about 'luxury' cars when there will be only one or two a season.
What does seem surprising is that you'd continue to watch a show that you don't like, when you have said elsewhere you also don't have a television and have better things to do with your time?
