Assalamu alaykum

The Indian newspapers have covered the news extensively (half page coverage) of children chained in a rehabilitation centre for drug addicts in Karachi. The news spread is that these children were sexually abused, they were preparing them for jehad, TTP is involved in this etc.

The real facts I read was that indeed it was a rehabilitation centre. The parents were paying for that. Normal young children found were living separately. But the media showed these young children on their papers.

The wafaqul madaaris has denied that it was a madrasah.

I was about to ask someone from Pakistan the reality of the news, I had doubts that it would a lie, here is the article in Indian Express. The whole article was ambiguous, they even mention its a rehab centre in a sentence, but stick to the 'sexual abuse' story. Buncha Liars i guess.

LIARS.

I saw this bit in the news on the pakistani news channel, the Maloonest one, dont want to dirty my keyboard by spelling it out, anyways they didnt mention about the abuse but what was mentioned was that the kids were chained.

there are, , more than a million madaris in Pakistan, if one of them did this doesnt taint the madaris and the ulema however much the media wants it too.

this is true....but what will taint the good name of islam is if the muslims and the ulema try to defend the actions of the madrasah without investigating the matter.

yes I agree, counter-propaganda should be based on foolproof evidence, if they dont have it, then the best approach in my zaleel opinion would be to take the lead in demanding the criminals to be punished so that no one else can use this 'opportunity' in their favor...Wallahualam

Waaleykum'assalaam!

Bro, if you think young children cannot fall prey to drug abuse or addiction, then you need to wake up.

In my city in India, I have seen street children as young as 7-8 sniffing eraser fluid and other substances. I see these poor children everyday. You'll always find them high off of something or the other. They don't sound normal. These street children are being victimised at the hand of scrap dealers who push them into drug addiction.

Then there are 'over the counter' (OTC) drugs which aren't only easy and legal to get from the stores but are normally found in our home. I won't name those drugs here. But you see, even school children from well off families are also victim of this epidemic.

So, it is no wonder if children mentioned in the above news were genuine addicts. After all, there is hardly any socio-cultural difference between India and those across the border.

Assalamu alaykum

there were very young children in there as well. how were they drug addicts? Either they were not chained and living separately or it is possible for young ones get addicted. I have seen children getting addicted to sniffing petrol, cough syrup, analgin tablets etc. This is my personal experience in jamaath. We have faced these addicts, they get wild when they don't get their stuffs, they want to run away from jamaat. Alhamdulillah there are elders who handle them by alternate methods.

The background behind the propaganda against madaris is discussed in urdu in the attachment. There are similar rehab centers where people of all ages are chained. And this center is not a madrasah. The head of the center was a mufti, that doesn't make the center a madrasah.

Secondly the guardians of these boys have paid and got their children admitted in the center voluntarily. They have displayed the receipts, the conditions of admission, the advertisement etc.

yes I agree, counter-propaganda should be based on foolproof evidence, if they dont have it, then the best approach in my zaleel opinion would be to take the lead in demanding the criminals to be punished so that no one else can use this 'opportunity' in their favor...Wallahualam Honest newspapers have brought out the real picture. But who is there to listen to them. The biased government, the modern muslims etc. waiting for an opportunity to speak against the madaris.

as a muslim we should always seek justice whether it is bitter or sweet. Justice should come from an aadil. Not from a biased and jumping towards conclusion persons.

even more of a reason to investigate the matter.
