 need quick reply! buying with mahr
assalamu alaikum,
few hours back i damaged one of my husbands very precious thing accidently...now i want to know wether i can buy the same item using the money which i got as mahr? i've got no other money with me...  jazaakumullah! |

 sister.The Mahr is of your full ownership, you can dispose it however you like. I read it in a Shafi'i Book 'Reliance of the Traveller'. Here is the extract: m8.5 The bride possesses the marriage payment when it has been expressly stipulated. She may dispose of it when she accepts it, and her ownership of it is finalized when her husband has sexual intercourse with her (O: after which none of it is refundable), or when one of them dies before they have had intercourse. |

Jazakallah brother, but i've heard from some people that the mahr cannot be used on the husband.so its fine is it,to buy from the mahr for the husband?

Mahr is your money, do with it as you wish. My mom bought my dad's Hajj ticket with her Mahr money   It's hard for women these days to save for that much long...
