Keep her away from it. Put the litter box somewhere, where she cannot get to it.

Kitty litter by itself is very bad for dogs, and kitty poop is not good either.

I don't have a picture, but my DH devised a way to place the litter pan underneath a shelf and with a small wooden barrier in front of it (which blocks the pan from being pulled out). The cat (admittedly, very petite at 5 lbs.) can get in and out, the dogs, however, cannot squeeze in to go 'fishing', or pull the box out.

A friend of mine has her litter box elevated on a shelf built for that purpose - her cats can get up there, but her dogs cannot.

Yup, don't let him do that.

I correct mine when I catch them doing it. Lily doesn't anymore, but Scout will if there is something really good in there. They are not left unsupervised with the cats so obviously they aren't around the box unsupervised either.

Also I use Feline Pine, which is probably a lot less damaging to innards than that silica clay crap. So its not that huge of a deal if she eats some kitty poo with pine powder on it. I use it because of my cat with a history of Upper Respiratory Disease.

If you can I'd put it somewhere where your dog can't get to it. I put a baby gate up that expands so the dogs can't get to the litter boxes.

Oh dogs and their love of crunchy delights (as they're called in my house). What's really bad is when they try to kiss you later.

I have my cats litter box upstairs in "their" room. My upstairs is completely gated off to the dogs, so they've never had access to it. Solves that problem.

My AB ate a lot of kitty litter and had problems due to it. He would sneak into the laundry room every chance he got and gorge on "kittyy litter crunchies". Because of this he got a lot of gas and loose stool plus copious vomiting. Its not a good thing for other health reasons, too, so I had to move the box where the dogs can't get to it.

get one of those big Rubbermaid storage boxes, and cut a hole in the lid. Put kitty litter inside, and your dog will be hard-pressed to get to the munchies within. They sell an expensive version at Petsmart, with little treads on the top to catch the litter.. but the rubbermaid way is quick and cheap.

Correct them when you see them in the litter box. Also you could use a baby gate or put it in a room where the cats are only allowed.

Around here. they are bon-bons... I try to keep the baby gate up to keep the dogs out of the "bon-bon zone". They still sometimes sneak in and chomp down a few, but Mollie has learned that when she does, she gets her teeth brushed as soon as I catch her.
