Default Help !! 404 Error ?
For some reason i keep getting a wierd 404 error on a lot of sites lately,
the website loads normally and then almost instantly jumps to a "The page cannot be found" 404 Error ??
The url of the message always seems to be something with http://www.mybrowserbar.com/cgi/errors.cgi

Does anybody have a clue what´s wrong ?
I´ve had Spybot check and CCleaner but it´s still the same.

Do you have any Toolbars installed?

Have you tried a different browser?

What are the more recent programs that you have installed?

Did you check proxy settings on your browser?

In Firefox, Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Network -> Settings

Is "No Proxy" checked?

Also, browse to \system32\drivers\etc and open the "hosts" file in notepad.

Copy and Paste the entire contents of the file here.

No proxy is checked

here´s the hosts file:

# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

127.0.0.1 localhost

Interesting problem. You could download the Hijackthis program and look for any suspicious entries. Just don't mess around with anything you're not sure about obviously...

Damn, clean as a whistle!

Let me pontificate this for a minute...

Ok, a searchy on the webz, found this:

http://www.freespycheck.com/malware-...erbar-com.html

It attaches to these executables: searchsettings.exe, widgihelper.exe, msiexec.exe, arpproducticon.exe

I have never used the remover software, so I can not bless it. It could be more garbageware disguised as AV software.

Try running a scan with Malwarebytes. http://malwarebytes.org/

Some hits on Google point to a pdfforge toolbar. Do you see that in add/remove programs?

Ohh man [rolleyes]

/smacks DuranXL left and right with a rock the size of Roseanne Barr´s ass.

I think you misunderstood,
Of course, i´ve had hundreds of reboots since this problem started happening.
But only after deleting all files (which were all over my hard drives) that had something pdfforge like in it´s titel and then rebooting did it work.

Glad you got it sorted out.

I looked at that freespycheck link which is for ParetoLogic AV, and what I could find online, it doesn't look good at all. I would recommend completely removing that from your system. Not sure if it's a virus cloaked as an anti-virus program, or just a really bad AV...

Highly recommend installing Malwarebytes AND/or SUPERantispyware.
