Exact same.

Mine went pricvate and since she was decent I stayed with her.

Then I moved 170 miles away + her fees meant I havent seen a dentist in 20 months.

Going on monday hope the new one is ok as I know I need at least one filling
Are the private fee's much more than NHS for a checkup and clean, I think I pay something like £17 for a checkup on NHS

I have yet to feel pain when getting fillings with the dentist I have now. It's unpleasant, to be sure, but just that. He is a professor at the dental school, practices only 2 days per week, and charges damn close to $500/hour. But damn it, he's worth every penny.
I used to hate going to the dentist because it was always very painful. With my current dentist, it's a pleasant experience in comparison. I had a large cavity filled (hadn't been to the dentist in 8 years) and it didn't even hurt. Too bad he's 85 years old, so I don't know how much longer he'll be able to practise
