What are the premises of separate episodes normally built around? I mean, LOST was (at least for starters) where one episode dealt with one new aspect of the island. On Heroes, is it a save-the-world-each-episode show like Stargate? No, it's an epic plot line. The pieces fit together, more so each episode, and the plot line progresses to a foreshadowed by event/showdown.
