Maybe that's because it's a no-name, unsubstantiated source? Oh, which is why it cites the Lancet?

I'm asking you asher, would you change your mind on this topic if I found this Lancet study for you?

The one infuriating thing about Ben and his ilk is the unfailing hubris to know what's best for people other than themselves.

I've met some of them, wonderful, wonderful people, and I think that more then anything else would help her.

I think you should assume that I believe everything I am saying here, otherwise what's the point of posting? I think you might be assuming that sending some christian people over there to pay a pitty visit is going to make a different. That falls a bit short of people treating her as though she isn't misfigured.

I was thinking of a friend. Someone who would see her and spend time with her on a regular basis. Who would enjoy her company. I know folks like that and they are excellent people.

And where did Christian come into this? That's not the way friends work. You meet someone somewhere that you find interesting and attracted to in some way. Maybe they are funny or cool - at least interesting in some way. People who don't know her at all would only be her "friend" out of pity.

And I just figured that you meant some kind of christian missionary work.

Btw, maybe she has friends already but is still depressed. Did you think of that?

That's not the way friends work. You meet someone somewhere that you find interesting and attracted to in some way. Can't agree. Friendships start with one thing, caring about the other person for whatever reason. What one person finds interesting is another person's dislike. I've known people like that and some of them are really good people because they aren't shallow.

And I just figured that you meant some kind of christian missionary work. Nope, I was thinking more of a companion and a good friend.

Btw, maybe she has friends already but is still depressed. Did you think of that? I don't know. She sounds from what this short article has said that she's very lonely and feels socially isolated and ostracized by the community in general.

Yes, she's lonely and ostracized. That hurts like hell. Why is the solution to kill her rather then treat her like a real person? QFFT

Ben you hit the nail on the head.

As for what I would or would not prefer, I would prefer that the able bodied do such dirty work themselves rather than ask others to do it. Why do you oppose a free economy of people offering services to parties who wish to partake of them?

It doesn't even take that much effort to kill yourself. If you're worried about the mess and I have no idea why you would given the fact you won't be there, there are even was to minimize the gore. CO poisoning for instance.

Elok, about 85 percent of people with this would survive past five years.

It all depends on the cancer and whether it metastatizes elsewhere.

I guess Doc Strangelove could comment more, but that's what I see when looking this up.

The Canadian case of Sue Rodriguez:

Sue Rodriguez (August 2, 1950 – February 12, 1994) was an advocate of assisted suicide.

She was born in British Columbia, with the given name Sue Shipley, and grew up in Thornhill, Ontario, a suburb of Toronto. Her first marriage was short lived.

Rodriguez, who lived in Victoria, British Columbia, was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in early 1991. She fought to have a legal right to assisted suicide; under the Criminal Code of Canada, assisted suicide is punishable by a maximum sentence of 14 years in prison. She twice took her cause to the Supreme Court of Canada, but ultimately lost both battles. On September 30, 1993, in what would become a landmark decision, Rodriguez v. British Columbia (Attorney General), the SCC held 5-4 against her.

In 1994, she decided to take her own life with the help of an anonymous physician. Svend Robinson, a New Democratic Party MP who had championed her cause, was also present.

A 1998 film called At the End of the Day: The Sue Rodriguez Story, with Wendy Crewson as Rodriguez, tells her story.

I am sure there is someone out there who can still appreciate her despite her hideous disfigurement. Admiral Akbar perhaps?

Sorry, I know it's tasteless, but I just couldn't help myself

I mean sure she wants to die, but you calling for us to start killing people who look a certain way, crosses the line.

BTW I am morally repulsed by gay people and think we should reinstate the DP for them.

Also Jews look hideus how can they live with those nosese. I say we grant them a quick and painless death, maybe lethal gass?
